Not that crazy really, but I loved Dahab, in Egypt. Walking to the old town at 4am, with the camera, felt a little crazy, as I was stalked all the way there by a pack of feral dogs. Thankfully they seemed scared of my tripod!

The Yucatan. Smelly, humid and full of snakes, but there are wonders to behold.

Cairo. Most chaotic city I've ever visited, but beauty surprises around every corner.

My Mum's. Inhabited by complete lunatics, but best gravy in the world

When I was a kid in Katmandu it was absolutely beautiful - remember watching a VHS of the sea on Blue Peter and the kid I was with freaking out because he had never seen so much water, it was a monarchy back then, not sure if I would want to go back as the last time things had changed so much. Nepali people are so generous and beautiful.

You grew up there? I love the Nepalese people, they love life... I went just after the monarchy was erm removed, it was still good but I didn t know it under the monarchy and of course there was the tragic natural destruction of Khatmandhu several years back so I probably wouldn t recognise a lot of it now. I went upto Everest base camp.. The flight up the mountain is erm.. Interesting

Oh wow, would love to spend more time there.. Got chased down a main street by a man with a khukri in his hand, yelling and shouting.. Wouldn t see that in UK, nothing bad, he d shown me around his workshop and how he made them, i wanted to buy one but didn t think UK would let it in... So I left, but he checked, found it was ok so hottlegged after me, waving and shouting, blade in hand thru the crowds of people

Spent some time dodging bombs and shootouts in Israel during the 1980’s, wouldn’t recommend the circumstances but was a fab country and fab people

I loved it there.

When did you leave?

I have been there a few times from 2000 - 2006.

I used to travel a lot to India and Kathmandu was a good place to renew my visa.

It was almost tranquil after the chaos of Delhi

A slow and arduous 6 days trek. Worth every single breathless step of course. As was the party in Zanzibar, Tanzania when we made our way back down.
