Not washing your hair

Well as I’ve been dying all week from flu I haven’t washed my hair since Monday (don’t judge me) well just before I washed it today I brushed it and thought how lovely and shiny it looked. I’ve been using dry shampoo all week but does shampooing strip the hair or it’s goodness?

I heard somewhere your hair cleans it’s self after a while.

I used to work with someone who never washed her hair. It was beautiful

She did have to go through the horrible greasy stage, but she got there.

I did hairdressing at college for a year and yep, washing your hair damages the natural oils. I wish I could go longer than two days without needing to wash mine

My mum washes hers once a week and it’s lovely all the time.

I believe it does go thro a self cleaning process, but it takes a while.

Northampton Somewhere

A lady I know only washes hers once every 2 weeks, she has a beautiful thick head of hair. It always looks lovely. 3 days is the longest I've gone.

I think your assumptions are correct. I personally don't wash my hair. I started this years ago. When i'm in the shower though, i tend to soak my head and brush my hair with my fingers until it feels smooth. My hair isn't as long as i had it at one point. I had my hair below my shoulders when extra-ing for Game of Thrones. Even when i had it that ling, i never washed it. Colleagues, women, in work used to ask how i looked after my hair. As it looked so healthy. From time to time, shower gel was used obviously but 99% of the time, my loaf just gets a good soak. Piping hot water is also advantageous.

I used to wash mine every day as it would start getting greasy at night but I was pretty ill last year so for around 3 months I couldn't wash it often and now it's in the best condition it's ever been.

I could probably go a week or more without washing as it doesn't get greasy now. Unfortunately old habits creep back in and I wash it more than I should!

Try it again but give your hair a good hot soak every day. Running fingers through until smooth and all tats are out. Can't believe i'm tslking about hair care to women!

I haven’t washed my hair with shampoo wet or dry for 20 years, it doesn’t smell of anything, it’s in very good condition according to my barbers too, cold water rinse twice a day and that’s it

So it does work then. Does you head get itchy? (Apologies for the randomness of the question)

I couldn’t do it. My hair is long and I love the freshly washed feel and smell.

Would like to try not washing everyday as well. Just concerned that having blond hair it would be more obvious it's not washed

your imagination

I wash mine two or three times a week. Its not that it gets greasy, but certain smells cling to it like smoke or cooking smells. I can even smell ash from the fire off it. I don't feel clean unless my hair smells clean.
