I’m a lover of thick gravy with chips. I like it to the side though so I can dip the chips in it.

Do you like it ?

Chips in gravy are standard within any Chinese take out down here in the south east . I love it.

The proper chip shops near me, can't seem to serve up the correct type of gravy. They use standard bisto I think. Which is gross whilst covered over chips.

While I whole heartidly appriciate your kind words I can't help but disagree and fail to edit my spelling mistake.

It's the people that make this place.

Btw there are X2 Jizzy Rascals here and mine was probably chosen first, given my 8/9 years or so.

It's not a problem, it's easily big enough for both of us but has led to at least one comical confusion.

It's certainly a lot more common up North. When I used to live in London a lot of the fish and chip shops were pretty traditional and didn't even sell things like gravy or curry sauce. Up north you can get like 20 different sauces for your chips haha. Gravy, curry sauce, sweet and sour sauce, bbq sauce (warm and like the same consistency as sweet and sour sauce), ok sauce, my local even does plum sauce. Then there's the dozens of cold sauces - ketchup, mayo, garlic mayo, hot chilli sauce, sweet chilli sauce, burger sauce, Peri peri sauce, chilli and garlic sauce, spicy mayo, etc.

In my youth I worked at kfc for 2 years

Made gallons of the stuff. Apart from the bag of pixie dust it's only the filtered deepfried breading that's added. Filters and tanks beneath the henny pennys are scrubbed every day.

So no worse than using beef stock to make gravy.

Gotta be the proper thick chip shop gravy, almost able to cut slices of it.

Definitely a northern thing, asked for chips and gravy in London over 20 years ago and was almost run out of town!!

As a total regional thing - chip spice - only in Hull and surrounding area.

Well that’s odd, considering I’m in London and did a thread about chips and gravy the other day!

London is rubbish... Ordered a kebab with chilli sauce and thousand island dressing and they had no clue what I was on about... They gave me burger sauce... Wtf is that about?!?

It used to be my go to Chinese takeaway meal back as a young child(all together in the foil containers)

Soon discovered the joys of proper Chinese meals though

I find it really bland if I'm honest now, chips and curry sauce still hold an attraction
