So last night started off with the kind of bang you never want.... Someone went into the back of me at a roundabout!

Stupidly in the concentration of looking at the damage I forgot to take the rg no of pics of their car.

I've asked them for that info but as yet they aren't forthcoming. I've got their phone number and name.... What are my options?

Report to police. If the number is legit they should be able to find a name.

The obvious one is to phone the police, not sure what they will do though, good luck and hope you are ok

I assume you've got insurance? Pass the details straight on to them - that's what you're paying them for

Sounds like a civil matter. Can't see the police doing much.

Your insurance company may be able to find them ...... I suspect they don't have insurance.

Or have their number investigated etc.

Tell the police, inform your insurance, take pictures of the damage and write down everything that happened while you remember it all.

We were hit by an uninsured d*unk driver so our claim was done through the Motor Insurance Bureau, yes contact your insurance company.

If I don't have theur reg no etc then I will have to pay my excess and it will affect my policy even though its a no fault claim on my part.

I did wonder if the police would bother or not as its a civil claim. Might ring 101 later.

I've been in touch with the other party and they've acknowledged that they are going to their insurers but despite me asking they haven't given me the information.

Just checked and should be reported withing 24 hours so will do that in a bit as still within that time period.

When I was rearended the police were called at the scene and wouldn't come out as there were no injuries.

Google the number. You may get a Facebook hit.

There is also a tracing site called pipl. Although it might only be for email addresses.

Mib claims can also be for untraceable drivers. Not sure how that works but definitely log it with the police. The driver should really have given you his insurance details and reg at the scene.

Was there any potential cctv about?

Our insurance company informed the MIB to pursue our claim
