Javelin in high school. Got around 55m but never followed up or pushed it further no idea why.

Represented the RAF a few times and best throw was just over 65m. All self coached. I reckon with some proper coaching I could have been up there with the best.

Hiding in the shadows

Childhood, early teenage, school years.

Swimming, swam at County & national level, represented GB.

Cross Country running, County level.

Cycling, track & Road racing, national level.

Netball, again played for County.

Senior school, I did PE with the boys, I was deemed too aggressive after the Hockey incident to play with the girls!

Turned out, I was bloody good at rugby & played for school team.

Late teens I discovered karate & kick boxing, have represented GB 3 times in my late 20s early 30s.

Late 40s....it's all about the weights & lifts

No idea how far I can with it, but I'm aiming high

Primary school I was an excellent swimmer, was too young to go get my gold thingy badge so gave up.

Started playing ice hockey whilst still in secondary school and continued until 2005 when I moved to the West Mids.

I was rather good.

U19s England trials, where I got through to the final round and was reserve for the team for if anyone couldn't make it or sustained injury etc.

Define good at..

At school, I wasn't really into sport, so was distinct average at most.

After school got into Surfing for a few years, but wouldn't say I was good at it particularly.

Climbing was by far my best sport, but have that up last year due to constant injury. If my body ever fully recovers, I'll probably go back to it, if not, there's always surfing.

As it is I enjoy playing footy regularly still and surf (badly) which all gives me pleasure

Played semi professional cricket including spells playing grade cricket in Australia.

I had county trials when I was 12 but they rejected me on the grounds of my height or lack of. At 16 I shot up and signed for a minor county and never looked back.

I played every summer weekend for almost 30 years. I don’t do that any more but I still turn out for my local club side and coach their youth team which is very rewarding.

And around 35 yrs ago I was doing rather a lot in aikido until I realised the various instructors all wanted me because I’d be the only under 16 and only woman 1st dan in the union at the time. I ain’t no ones toy. I jacked it in and went back to it in my own time when none of that was relevant anymore.

It’s that bad stubborn trait
