Dispelling a Myth

I’m curious about a specific reason commonly given to me as to why Guys don’t list TV/TS in their profile preference for ‘looking to meet’ yet contact me for that very reason. The reason given is that some women and couples won’t have anything to do with them if they do list TV/TS’s in their preferences and likewise if they have verifications from them. Hence they don't list TV/Ts's. I’m never convinced by that and it’s not a problem for me but curious to see if there is any truth in it or is it just a myth?

I have see a few women's profiles that specify they'll only meet straight men, even outright saying if you're bi or meet tv/ts then it's an instant no.

I'm not sure why, personal preference I guess but it wouldn't bother me at all

It's not a myth. They are more prone to std's etc and people can't give blood if they play with a bisexual man. They should be honest and not disrespect peoples preferences but they want their cake and to eat it too.

There's a lot of this actually. Not enough to for me to pretend I'm not bisexual, but it's quite common. Don't really understand it either, but horses for courses and all that...

Subject to meeting the other donation rules, men who have had specific sexual activity¹ with another man; commercial sex workers and people who have sex with partners in groups known to have a high risk of having an infection that could be passed on during sex (high risk partners) will be able to donate after three months have passed since the last sexual activity.

Not strictly correct, this is from the Give Blood website and came into effect last year

What if I've only been straight in last three months? Fucking stupid rule. Just make tests more accurate. That way you can avoid all the other non-sexually related.

I remember reading a post from a woman saying she couldn't kiss a man who had had a cock in his mouth and the thought of a man putting his cock in another man's arse made her feel ill, even though she does anal herself.

Oh I agree completely. I'm not making an argument for blood donation, just pointing out that the info that you can't give blood if you've had sex with men, or played with someone who has, isn't quite correct

The myth is TV/TS and bi men shag anything and probably don’t use protection.

I don’t believe this! Happy to show my TV/TS verifications

"Risk factors

Anyone who is sexually active risks exposure to a sexually transmitted infection to some degree. Factors that may increase that risk include:

Having unprotected sex. Vaginal or anal penetration by an infected partner who isn't wearing a latex condom significantly increases the risk of getting an STI. Improper or inconsistent use of condoms can also increase your risk.

Oral sex may be less risky, but infections can still be transmitted without a latex condom or dental dam. Dental dams — thin, square pieces of rubber made with latex or silicone — prevent skin-to-skin contact.

Having sexual contact with multiple partners. The more people you have sexual contact with, the greater your risk. This is true for concurrent partners as well as monogamous consecutive relationships.Having a history of STIs. Having one STI makes it much easier for another STI to take hold.Anyone forced to have sexual intercourse or sexual activity. Dealing with r$pe or assault can be difficult, but it's important to be seen as soon as possible. Screening, treatment and emotional support can be offered.Abusing alcohol or using recreational drugs.Substance abuse can inhibit your judgment, making you more willing to participate in risky behaviors.Injecting drugs. Needle sharing spreads many serious infections, including HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C.Being young. Half of STIs occur in people between the ages of 15 and 24.Men who request prescriptions for drugs to treat erectile dysfunction. Men who ask their doctors for prescriptions for certain drugs — such as sildenafil (Viagra), tadalafil (Cialis) and vardenafil (Levitra) — have higher rates of STIs. Be sure you are up to date on safe sex practices if you ask your doctor for one of these medications"

Completely agree with G here! A quick scout on the internet will give you all kinds of up to date and acutare information from medical resources

The risk factors above bare no reference to sexual orientation in defining risk. Merely the acts themselves.

Think about this logically. More gay/bi men engage in anal sex because it is their only option of penetrative sex they can do compared to women.

The problem is we can only go by what people tell us- and we don't go into detail about our sexual history on here-so we have to go by what we can see and make a decision. It may be an ill-informed decision but it's their health so they take the risks; or not.

I actively avoid men who regularly attend gang bangs (not just for the health reason), but some of them might not even touch another person. I'm not prepared to take the risk of meeting a man who had been fucking women who do regular gang bangs as I don't know how they act while they are there.

There might be some men who go but don't tell anyone, so I can't do anything about that.

It's about assessing risks, how much risk you want to take and how much you believe someone.

We aren't going to know everything about a person's sexual activity.

In your elaboration you narrowed it down to a man and woman having anal sex, being less risky than two men. In a one off act, no sexual history into account, you're wrong.

I'd also argue against treating people this way. A giant sweeping paintbrush that blots everyone regardless of their behaviour.

I have regular tests, I meet infrequently, rarely engage my bisexuality, always use a condom.

How am I any more of a risk than you?

No man has EVER encouraged me to go bareback. Loads of couples and a few women have. They're also very persistent about it. Most bisexual men and Tv's I've met know a damn site more about STIs than most women and couples I've met.

I don't go off statistics. I Go off experience.

I met a man who after having sex with me said he wouldn't meet women who had sex with black men or bi men. This was because black and no men don't care who they fuck (his words) and he can't risk catching AIDS because he won't be allowed back in Saudi Arabia to work.

That was an awkward drive home after I told him I had had sex with black and bi men.

Its true it will put some women off, but it will turn an equal amount of women on, so them lying about it just makes them a liar.

Are you comfortable to meet a guy who meets girls lying to them about his sexual history, what he is up to.

Gay people are higher risk, so are trans, so are Bi people. But people who lie are the biggest risk around.

I Go off experience."

Yes, unfortunately people stereotype but that is life. Life isn't always fair.

I personally feel that many so called 'straight' men who meet TS/Tvs, are in denial about their bisexuality. People who don't own their sexuality and dishonest are a turn off.

exactly the same as a man and woman doing the same act. think before you speak ffs Nah, it isn't I'm sorry. Not as prone.

So, womans internal bottom bits are more resistant to spreading or contracting STI's?! Wowzas... Have you shared these findings in a medical paper? You'd be famous for sure. Think about this logically. More gay/bi men engage in anal sex because it is their only option of penetrative sex they can do compared to women.

Your ignorance and inability to grasp simple biology is both hilarious and worrying. Don't let the truth get in the way of your intolerance and bigotry eh? "

And also inability to put spaces between postings!! Makes it confusing as hell when all the comments get bundled together like that!!

I'd say they don't understand their own sexuality. Some are in denial, some are ashamed because of views expressed on this thread. Some fear they won't be seen as masculine anymore.

Which is why I don't like it when people mock Fabstraight men.

Just because I'm finally comfortable with it, I've not forgotten what I went through to get here. Nor forgotten that others are and always will be.. going through the same experience.

I always have musli for breakfast, EVERY FUCKING MORNING, but what if one day I woke up and thought "do you know what, I fancy shreddies!", would it be OK to pop to the shops for some shreddies or would I need to fill out a risk assessment and have it signed by a "professional" (that's another post)

But you see what I'm saying here, as with so many posts on fab, ppl will always have personality and that's what makes us all magic and sparkly..... ......Imho I recommend to share the love and eat what you like for breakfast without feeling like you have to pre-order....

Are you comfortable to meet a guy who meets girls lying to them about his sexual history, what he is up to.

Gay people are higher risk, so are trans, so are Bi people. But people who lie are the biggest risk around. "

Swingers are also higher risk, something which is conveniently forgotten whenever this subject matter comes up.

It's not about logic, it's about mental and emotional perceptions. Like most things on fab, there's really little desire to understand other differences and accept why especially if one doesn't agree or understand the others views.

The more I read the forums the more I realise that fabbers are the least tolerant towards others different views, be it right or wrong. People hate being excluded by others for their own choices.

We need to listen more rather than think about trying to change others opinions to come in line with our own.

A woman who goes to a club regularly and has multiple men , including sucking their cock has more incidences of exposure to risk than a bi man who occasionally sucks a cock.

The more people you come into contact with the more chance you have of catching something.

"I’m curious about a specific reason commonly given to me as to why Guys don’t list TV/TS in their profile preference for ‘looking to meet’ yet contact me for that very reason.

I'm not sure why, personal preference I guess but it wouldn't bother me at all "

I have no bloody clue why it's such an issue for a man to be bi or bi curious. Having an interest in men or TV's doesn't make you any less interested in women. I know it's just their preference but i think women who state they'll only meet straight men come across as a bit stuck up and rude. It boggles me even more when other women don't like the idea of men meeting TS women. They are women and view themselves that way. As long as a guy is interested in women and messages me because they like what they see, then i don't care whether they are bi or straight.

rightly or wrongly bisexual men are seen as more promiscuous and more blasé about safe sex. Also the fact that receiving anal is the most risky thing sexually to do as there is more chance of things getting into the blood stream so with all that some will decide to avoid them.

Now if I was a TV and had straight men contacting me I would comer to the right conclusion this guy is not honest. So a question back to you and that is why meet someone who blatantly deceives and could be deceiving you on his sexual health status after all a liar is a liar.

I have no idea bout UK stats, I am irish and was quoting parts of the Irish stats I know to be universal. All across the EU gay/bi are higher risk.

They are not the Highest risk group in Ireland, not even close to it, and straight white people are not close behind bi/gay people, again they are not even close. So I left them out.

Not at all. But I've noticed as in this one and others are often the first to raise this word in numerous posts when it isn't being displayed. Most unhelpful approach if one wants to get people to be more open minded, all it does is reinforce certain wrong thinking rather than achieve change.

It's often used to attack others who may have a preference rather than being homophobic. Its one of the most misquoted words on fab towards those who simply have a preference not to meet certain demographic groups, trying often to make them out to be something they are not, imo.

Just unhelpful. Sometimes feeling others are being homophobic and the reality can be more dependent upon where the recipient is mentally and emotionally rather than anything else.

This has been an interesting read and thank to all who contributed above. I don’t think the myth is dispelled and agree the issues of potential STI’s plays a big part but also the reluctance of guys to be fully open about their own sexual inclinations. I don’t sense prejudices play any measurable part which is nice to see.

You made a specific claim which I requested specific evidence for. An out of date, different from the current stance, position is not that specific scientific evidence.

I didn't say you had been. I'm just challenging what I deem to be fake news. Based off my personal experience.

More couples and women have asked me to have sex condom free than men.

I acknowledge that as an average, bi and gay men are more promiscuous. No more so than the average swinger, regardless of gender or sexuality.

IF.. NHS statistics are accurate and no longer out of date, then the difference between swingers and bi/gay men is marginal and not really helping your saftey much by avoiding one group of people over.

Try getting to know them before you make decision like that.

You may not be, but a statistically significant number of MSM are - that's why they blood donation rules are in place, they are simply based on statistics, not subjective judgement.

Risk levels are based on the number of sexual partners (which is why swingers are considered high risk) the fact that some sex acts eg anal and unprotected oral are more risky, and also the likelihood of more high risk scenarios - rougher or more impulsive sex etc.

And the statistics on STI levels show if the assessment of risk is accurate or not.

I do risk assessment all the time on here - how active someone is, what type of sex they engage in, etc, etc, etc. I believe I have a right to make any particular choice at any particular time about the level of sexual risk I wish to engage in.

exactly the same as a man and woman doing the same act. think before you speak ffs Nah, it isn't I'm sorry.

That's not what you said. You said something entirely different. After being questioned on your view. You're backtracking. I'm not backtracking you just didn't get the point I was making so I had to elaborate. I've met an played with bisexual couples but we played straight. I'm not homophobic, I'm just pointing out the facts.

You are. You're also free to say what you like on here. I've acknowledged we're in the high risk group. My own experience tells me, swinging couples and females deserve their place right alongside us though.

To think they aren't, is a tad foolish. "

I don't think anyone thinks that though? Bisexual men do often protest on here that anyone who accepts the statistics must be homophobic, but that just isn't true.

Mind you, if anyone has any statistics for UK swingers I'd be interested to see them - I have not managed to find any, only one study referring to Dutch swingers who were involved concurrently in a lot of drug use apparently.

There and to the left a bit

Getting back to the point and away from the reasons as to why, it's a fact there *are* those that won't meet openly bisexual men - and there *are* men who will hide their sexuality to get round that filter - however I've always believed those men that do so are deluding themselves as there are a greater number of people overall that either are ambivalent about whether someone is bisexual, or who actively look for them.

And a couple of recent forum polls back this up - the first about meeting couple's with a bi male - 98% said it either wouldn't make a difference, or would be more likely to meet a couple with a bi male

https://m.fabswingers.com/forum/lounge/853368#message_18926783

The second, about meeting single bi men - 90% said it wouldn't make a difference or they'd be more likely to meet.

https://m.fabswingers.com/forum/lounge/853658#message_18917548

Now admittedly the sample was fairly small (35 votes in the first and 22 in the second) and it was a public vote so people may not have wanted to be contentious, but it still backs up my theory.

Sadly until there is more tolerance and acceptance of bisexual males generally though, people will feel the need to hide it, whilst I respect peoples preferences not to meet bisexual guys, and personally think lying about your sexuality to get round a filter is a bad thing, more tolerance and acceptance, not to mention knowledge and understanding, would go a long way.

For a so called liberated lifestyle it's a shame there are still closed minded people about - I'd love to have a time where I can go to a club on any night and play with another guy if we both wanted to, and not feel like a pariah for doing so.

"I remember reading a post from a woman saying she couldn't kiss a man who had had a cock in his mouth and the thought of a man putting his cock in another man's arse made her feel ill, even though she does anal herself.

That's the part I really can't get my head around.. can't understand that logic at all.

We need to listen more rather than think about trying to change others opinions to come in line with our own.

does that mean racism, body shaming and homophobia need to be tolerated then?

I'm not attacking anyone. I challenged Mr Blondes comment. I see no direct homophobic comments so far and have not called anyone out on it.. yet.

I'm with you as far as wanting people to understand and know the difference between people.

If racist, homophobic and body shaming attitudes are on display, they should be challenged and challenged hard. How else do people learn?

"You know what? I'll just listen to someone else spouting falsehoods and inaccuracy".

That'll change their mind. I haven't been homophobic at all. I see there can be some reverse homophobia with a sensitive subject like this though.

Well some people were quick to call me ignorant and a bigot without acknowledging the facts, my actual view and my reasoning.

If you want to discount nice people like Gemini and Mikki who wouldn't do that to you under any circumstances. Or give you an STI. It's your loss. Not theirs.

We just don't appreciate being branded by your all-encompassing stereotypes. Well.. I don't, they probably couldn't give a damn.

Meeting TV's and Bareback will always divide opinion.

If people didn't condemn, there would be no need to hide the fact people play that way.

Put it all out there and allow others to make an informed choice.

Agreed. All I ask is that people discount me, based on things like. I annoy the fuck out of you. Or you don't find my physical appearance attractive, or I'm boring, something normal.

Ruling me out, because you assume incorrect things about me and my friends? Yeah, it shouldn't bother me, but it kinda does a bit, which is clear for all to see.

"I’m curious about a specific reason commonly given to me as to why Guys don’t list TV/TS in their profile preference for ‘looking to meet’ yet contact me for that very reason.

I think they are just using the women/couples as an excuse. The fact is they are bi and just don't want to admit it!!"

I agree with this, I'd say it's a very common reason. Not wanting to admit to themselves that they are bi.

- Isms are often hidden as preferences. Not all prefences are -Isms I will admit, but if they are and I spot it, I'll say something.

I don’t think your good luck is down to choice or how picky you are . I’d say it’s probably more to do with safe practice?

Let’s have it right people don’t walk about with a label on their foreheads

There is, I'm sure the Moderators will inform me when I cross over the line. If not, I've asked my more seasoned Forum friends to let me know if I start doing so.

There's clearly no one answer but there are clearly some irresponsible people who are not totally honest and open about their true sexuality and activities. I get the arguments about false branding of people and that can only be changed through time with better awareness. I struggle with the issue of not declaring a preference in fear of it excluding a group of people who may, just may have an interest in you. Be open and it may bring better things onto your journey.

Would you pick a bareback slut over a woman who declares she only has safe sex 5 times a year?.

No? That's being choosy.

Agreed. I'm just sticking up for the people who aren't where we are. Conversations like this may help them to just be themselves. Counter the misconceptions with truth. So they know that at least some of us will only judge them by who they are, not what they are. Sorry if I've taken over your thread OP. I'm passionate.

Why are they irresponsible for not telling people their sexuality? The sexuality on my profile is wrong and I don't show veris or discuss who I have fucked, but I don't see how that is being irresponsible.

Cheshire

Just looked at my last 10 messages for a meet and their Profile, of those 7 are straight and 3 put Bi Curious. One message from last night asked if I slept with ‘straight guys’ I generally don’t unless they’re exceptional.

Does that mean 70% of the men who put themselves down as straight on here actually lie ? I doubt it, but it certainly means that part of a Profile is not accurate at all.

I said 'some irresponsible people' and did not generalise. In the context of this thread that is those guys who hide the fact they are having bisexual sexual activity but clearly hiding this from others with whom they indicate they are straight non-bisexual, that's irresponsible.

"I’m curious about a specific reason commonly given to me as to why Guys don’t list TV/TS in their profile preference for ‘looking to meet’ yet contact me for that very reason. "
I always check The veries of the people I contact see if they have met a gay or bit man I try to follow it as far back going from one profile to another before I contact them if it looks shady I move on for me it's not a health reason as I'm probably on par with them for me it just comes down to the fact that I find it repulsive before anyone says anything about god I hate religion even more it's just not for me

You are missing the point I’m making . How do you know someone’s declaration to be true? You only have their word . That’s why I say safe practice has probably played more a part than choice when being free from sti s

I guess I believe deliberate misleading and hiding the truth from someone who has specific requirements is in my view irresponsible. The issue of catching anything is a different matter and we are all responsible for our own actions and protection.

We changed my sexuality on an almost daily basis at one point .

If we were going dogging I would put bi curious as I was happy to engage with TVs in a bi selfish way .

If we wanted a couple meet we would look at couples looking for a meet in our area and if they insisted on a bi male I would be , but only again in a selfish way . And never any arse play . If the couple we fancied were only looking for straight men we would remove our veri summary , and take off all Veris that mentioned bi play , and obviously all tv veris . So we would literally adjust the sexuality and what was in our profile depending on what we were looking for .

This swinging malarkey is what anyone wants it to be , and for us we would happily play with TVs , TS , black , white , single , attached , etc.... no group of people were not for us . But we certainly got what we wanted in ways that would be frowned on by those who insist on 100% honesty .

Hey ho

Hey ho

We did the same. Changing profiles to attract different groups of people. Different ticks, interests, veris shown, text, pics. We achieved every fantasy we thought of.

Exactly , and that’s why swinging appealed to us so much . We could literally tick every fantasy off our sexual bucket list every week . And variety is the spice of life isn’t it "

I'm reminiscing like mad tonight! Counted all the clubs I've been to earlier, and now thinking about all the mad meets.

Probably still less than you did in one week but one heck of a lot of memories.

"There's clearly no one answer but there are clearly some irresponsible people who are not totally honest and open about their true sexuality and activities. I get the arguments about false branding of people and that can only be changed through time with better awareness. I struggle with the issue of not declaring a preference in fear of it excluding a group of people who may, just may have an interest in you. Be open and it may bring better things onto your journey.

Why are they irresponsible for not telling people their sexuality? The sexuality on my profile is wrong and I don't show veris or discuss who I have fucked, but I don't see how that is being irresponsible.

I said 'some irresponsible people' and did not generalise. In the context of this thread that is those guys who hide the fact they are having bisexual sexual activity but clearly hiding this from others with whom they indicate they are straight non-bisexual, that's irresponsible.

Apologies, yes you did say some.

I still don't see how it is being irresponsible though. Unless you are inferring that people may catch something?

I guess I believe deliberate misleading and hiding the truth from someone who has specific requirements is in my view irresponsible. The issue of catching anything is a different matter and we are all responsible for our own actions and protection.

We changed my sexuality on an almost daily basis at one point .

Yet.. If I were to do that.. I'd find myself in hot water with the Forum police rather quickly. Seems unfair.

Only because you’re too bloody honest !

If you didn’t say anything and quietly went about your business it’d be fine "

But it's my honesty that's making me new friends.

I'm not knocking you or SteelHeels for your choices.

I'm just shocked you are both admitting in publically.

And yes SteelHeels, I don't really want to offend the Forum. I'll challenge people if I think they're wrong on something, I can't help doing that, it's in-built. I do care how I'm thought about though, to an extent, my honesty and sincerity matter to me. Regardless of whether everyone else is.

It's not being honest with myself and others that caused me to act out of character, even question my sanity at points. So if I'm being shown affection, or kindness, it feels real and I feel more confident for it.

Different strokes for different folks though.

Feel like I need to reiterate that I'm not knocking either of you for it. However.. Glos.. you did knock me a bit for defending Fabstraight guys. I think it's a bit unfair to do that, when you're openly admitting to lying yourself.

Possibly? Though I've found most liars tend to drop themselves in it, without the help of others. Hazard of lying.

I was totally honest though , I said I was bi selfish and went with TVs . You called me out for that then too ! See if I showed those Veris and put bi on our profile back then we wouldn’t have got some of the meets we wanted . And yes it was a bit naughty , but as I say , hey ho . We only did it because so many others told us how easy it was , so you may be surprised at how many swingers do this .

My sexuality on this profile is wrong because my actual sexuality isn't on the tick list. There's nothing on my looking for list to keep me off the searches but that's also a lie as I am looking, I just want to do it on my own terms.

On our couples profile we changed the pics and text to match the type of meet we were looking for. We showed different veris also to attract the type of meets we were looking for. Clubs, parties, role play, for example.

No matter what, **everyone's** profile will be 'hiding' something.

-An Interest might not be on the list.

-They will have had sex with someone off this site and so no veri.

-Everyone has a past and a future. What they want today may be different to what they wanted yesterday or tomorrow.

People often set up their profiles and never look at the text or details again. Desires change.

I agree with you. Which is why I think it's unfair that it's only the Fabstraight men that seem to get any stick for it.

"We will not meet bi guy or guy's who would meet a TV/TS it's because guy's will try to push it a rogue hand or something and that does not fit what we are looking for feel a touch sorry for the genuine guys who would not do this but we've found we have no need to take the chance there always anther guy.."

So it's acceptable for a woman to be bi but not a guy or a TV, incidentently I don't pay much attention to labels. However we have never had any disease and probably checked more often than hetro couples.

"i'm no more prone to STIs than anyone on here, I take care of my sexual health. Fucking despise that excuse. 2 men engaging in anal sex means they are more prone. It is easier to to transmit that way.

exactly the same as a man and woman doing the same act. think before you speak ffs Nah, it isn't I'm sorry. Not as prone.

Enlighten me.. how are two men having anal sex.. at more risk than a man and woman having anal sex? "

50% of all new HIV infections arw gay men. Gay men make up something around 3% of the population iirc.

The risk for blood donation is new infections as there may not be enough of the virus and its proteins to pick up in the test (this isnt strictly an accuracy thing its more that the 5cl of blood they take out of your 4000+cl just might not have any in it).

So by excluding gay men from donation they reduce the risk of infected blood slipping through by 50% while only reducing donors by 3%.

Its a very sensible decision for the medical community. More recent tests have cut down the time since activity massivly though.

Although its a moot point as as swingers/group sex enthusiasts if disclosed you would also be rejected unless youd been celebate for 3 months as swingers are a high risk group
