Is it conceivable that a war will occur in the earth's orbit in the near future?

China and America both want a base on the moon.

I can see that being the new space race and the start of a space war. It will be just like Moonraker.

It won't last long if it does.

The debris in low earth orbit would rapidly cascade as hundreds of satelites are smashed apart making more debris smashing more etc till we have a blanket of 14,000 mile an hour scrap whizzing over head and space is off limits for a few decades

I think we'll end up with an international loon base like the space station.

Fortunatley our space agencies around the world are pretty good woth cooperation and are more concerned with exploring soace than politics
