"Interesting programme. They say 2500 children under 18 are going to their GP's asking for gender identity care. Puberty blockers and such. My son is in year 10 and there are 2 boys in his year who are at the beginning of their journey. Don't you think that's mad at such a young age to feel like that? " We had 2 girls and 1 boy last year at school now old enough to take hormones and are. We also have in the school 1 child on hormone blockers and has been since the age of 8, refeered child is addressed as he but was born female. | |||

"I don't think it's mad at that age to know they were born in the wrong body. I find that people can know about whether they're bi/gay/lesbian in their preteens/early teens, although it's obviously different. I knew when I was around 13. " Thing is children are very impressionable. They are going start teaching children about LGBT in schools soon. Something like that might mess you up if you get it wrong. | |||

The programme is saying that the worry is these young people want the treatment to start straight away. I guess I just find it 'mad' because there were no young people, that I knew of anyway, who wanted to become the opposite sex when I was at school. | |||

I just don’t get it . As you say , kids are impressionable especially at that age . The more they see it , the more likely they are to try it ! Anyone remember the Louis Theroux documentary where the lad that had 2 sisters and a pretty damn powerful Mum admitted he dressed as a girl because he wanted to fit in with them . Yet when his Dad had him at weekends he was totally male orientated . He was nine as I recall and it was bloody obvious he was just doing it to please who was around him at the time . Giving hormones to kids is crazy in my opinion and I’m glad that woman was struck off . | |||

She had to live as a woman for at least 2 years before the op. She had a lot of support from the gender clinic. It’s a long process. X | |||

"One of my cousins knew from a young age, he hated being a boy, he’d always talk girly and like what us girls liked. He changed his gender at 15 while still in school. It’s been about 5 years now. He is happy and can do make up and hair better than me! He hasn’t started taking meds or thinking of doing the op change yet though. I hate when people attack my aunt for her son choices, she didn’t make him into a girl, she just always supported him. " ?? he can do make upandhair better than me lol that made me chuckle | |||

I didn’t have any sexual feelings about who I was sexually or anything along those lines until I was 13 . Up until then it was out on my bike , or playing football or cricket with my mates , walking the dog , climbing trees etc.... homework and watching a bit of telly . I can’t imagine any kid saying they were in the wrong body pre teen , or even after that when I was growing up . I didn’t even know men went with men or women with women until I was 15 and found a top shelf magazine in the woods . That was mind blowing enough ! So I’m afraid all this is way over my head and beyond my understanding . I watched the programme tonight and hoped to understand more . It didn’t help me at all . " Me neither. Although it didn't help when my son kept coming in telling about rivers, meanders and stuff because he's worried about a test he has to resit. He asked what I was watching and when I told him he  and said there was loads of trans stuff on Instagram not so long ago. He doesn't understand either, but he's 13. | |||
