I don't think there's a law or rules as such but generally people who consistently treat others well will be attractive to others who match and reciprocate. It's likely over populations, rather than any given for any one person.

We like to be good through both actions and words, simply because that’s the way we’d prefer to be treated also. However, we both know people that definitely fall into the ‘bad’ category that have everything they could ever wish for. So cosmic karma goes into room 101, with such things as heaven/hell, anything paranormal, deities, UFO’s, etc...

Law of attraction works to some degree.

Doesn’t explain how a new born baby would die of cot death or a child would have stage 4 cancer, they haven’t done bad things.

The power of now and the secret plus a DVD called the secret basically say what you put out you will receive which is also a christian principle but we're far from religious but work with spirituality.

Pagans have the threefold law what you do comes back threefold and the rede an it harm none do ast thou will. I may be paraphrasing but the gist is there.

Having said that fate delivers its life lessons for mortal souls so we'd agree some of your destiny you can control with good intents and deeds. The rest you put down to 'shit happens'.

Yes, it is called karma.

Nah, I don’t think it’s true.

Good things happen to bad people, bad things happen to good people. So what’s the excuse in this case? A higher power testing those good people in order to reward them later?

Yes, if you’re nice to people those people are more likely to be nice to you, and visa versa. But that is in essence just Hunan nature, not a law.

Dangerous bullshit. It teaches people that, if bad things are happening to them, it's because they deserve it, and if good things are happening they're entitled to them.

Very good humans can die young suffer vile health problems and have no money

Isn't doing good things just so we get good things back a little self serving?

And when did life or karma or whatever another may believe guarantee that only good things happen to good people and bad things happen to bad people.

Lifes for living just as it comes at us.

Utter claptrap, you do good because its the right thing to do. You do bad because you want to. Reward and puninishment are not karmicly connected.

Besides the universe only has one law and that is "blow shit up"

My life is controlled by the universe and believe it to be so, but then I do have a lot of crap in my life, mostly things beyond my control, but mix with those you want to be, being in the right mind set is the key, but a long time of control to get there, still shit happens unfairly to a lot of people, ill never understand why

I reckon it depends on what you value as good and bad.

Someone truly terrible could have what looks like all the good things happen to them: lots of money, big house, three holidays a year with the trophy wife/husband etc but actually be completely alone, knowing that the second they falter, no-one will be waiting to do anything but kick them.

Someone who appears to have all the bad happen to them could have all the love and friendship in the world which helps them stay strong when life kicks them.

Wait a sec...did I just describe the plot of ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’? That. That’s what I believe in.

Manchester (he/him)

There is plenty of arguments for and against Karma, plenty of anecdotal evidence.

Ultimately if you believe in it then you will find things to prove your belief.

Personally I believe that virtue is it's own reward, doing good or perceived virtue for fear of reprisal is rather hollow to my mind.

Isn't this one of those 'rules' that allows society to function rather than a basis for universal law? Or maybe that's just the cynic in me!

I dont think it depends

Bad stuff however defined can happen to anyone

Good stuff however defined can happen to anyone

There is no universal force that acts as a balance

Sometimes a persons actions will have a future impact sometimes they wont

karma is a much misunderstood concept I think and has more to do with how good or bad deeds affect your "self" than the universe meting out justice.

I do recall Glenn Hoddle having to leave the England managers job some 20 years ago for suggesting that it was a tit for tat thing based on misdemeanours in previous lives . Reincarnation and karma hand in hand so to speak .

I think there may be some truth in that .

I’ll get my coat .....

I do believe that if you send positive vibes you shall attract possible vibes, and the opposite.

How many times have we been in a situation with a group of people, if one person is being a dick, rude and obnoxious and another is smiling, happy, talkative, you’d naturally gravitate to the happy person.

I’ve had it several times where I’ve been talking to an absolute arse and just think, Christ when is this guy (or girl!) shut up!! I need to get out of this situation!

As for Karma, I do believe in it. But also things happen for a reason. Like most, I’ve had hardships, but looking back, if they didn’t happen there wouldn’t have been so many good things happen to me.

I do however remove deaths from this belief, because sadly everyone has a time to go.
