Ok my 40" bush ( No puns please ) Gave out last night. So i'm off to Currys later to buy a new tele. Ive got my eye on a 65" Lg Oled but all this new tech ! Now 4k. Will that enhance the picture while watching normal HD tv or Sky movies / sports or is it just for streaming ? I'm totally lost... when i was a lad there were only 3 channels and the tele was from Radio Rentals !

Talk to the guys in curry's.. They'll let you have all the info you need and even the size you need for the room size.. It's not all about the size.. Bigger isn't always better..

Big tip....stand where your tv is and measure where you normally sit ...count out feet lengths if need be heel to toe ...something that looks great in curry’s maybe to big or small for the room you’re putting it in

My lounge is 24'x 18'. the sofa is around 10" from the wall. The width of the tv matches the width of fireplace perfectly.

My 32" panasonic went pop before christmas. Popped down to asda that night and replaced it with a 40" Sharp. Really chuffed and was only £300. Half the price of the old set

Sony, i would go, if not then samsung or lg.

pretty much all the others are made in the same factory's using the same boards and different frames, i work for a company who get thousands of tvs in from returns, you would think panasonic is good is the same cheap stuff as a techwood

I went 4K a few years ago. Mine is actually one of the last 3D TV's produced, so I get best of both worlds.

4K is, to put it in the simplest possible terms, 4 times the resolution of HD.

Most of them upscale inputs that are not up to 4K standard.

You probably won't see much benefit watching standard definition television like Only Fools repeats on Gold, but you'll be future proofed (well, to a degree - work is already underway on 10K).

If you're a gamer, you'll notice an improvement.

Resolution is the size of the image.

sd = postage stamp, 1080p = envelope, 4k = the unfolded letter.

The idea is the bigger the screen the bigger the picture you want to avoid stretching it. But in a home how far you sit has to be taken into account. which is why 1080p was invented, its as good as our eyes can see at the average couch distance, on average sized tvs.

I’d say the difference between HD and 4K isn’t as noticeable as the difference between SD and HD. Plus there isn’t regarding much 4K content yet, and doesn’t seem to be rolling out as quickly as HD did.

OLED and HDR probably make more noticeable differences than the 4K.

I bought a smart TV recently!! Jesus! I can't use it! It is deffo smarter than I. I can use Sky and press the Netflix button, anything else I need the assistance of my son lol
