What are your favourite animals?

Mammals, insects, arachnids, reptiles, birds, fish.. wharrever.

A celebration of the wilder things in life.

I love Orca's. I'm fascinated by them. It amazes me that the Oceans top predator doesn't see us as a food source and has not once (as far as I'm aware) killed a human in the wild.

I can only put it down to them having a level of intelligence we don't fully understand yet. Even their smaller cousin, the bottle bored dolphin has been known to chest ram the odd diver on occasion.

Got to be cats... I have a bizarre connection with them. Most of them love me but some hate me and avoid me. I even get random cats running up to me meowing, rubbing themselves up against my legs and trying to trip me up. I think I must be part cat. I identify with cats in that i like affection but it has to be on my terms because I am independent and happy with my own company.

"Octopus, intelligent amazing creatures"

I had a documentary on VHS about the Giant Octopus. I was fascinated then, but It was more childish, kraken-esque mythology fascination.

Now I've learnt more, I can't believe how incredibly clever they really are.

To the point I've considered keeping one.

I'm only allowed certain pets in my flat. No cats or dogs

I couldn't keep an octopus in a tank though Its wild and deserves to be free. Also.. I'm not the best at keeping sensitive aquatic creatures alive and healthy.

I'd need counselling if I killed an octopus through laziness.

Robins- cheeky, fearless and there’s a certain belief I have about their appearance.

Ants - their structure / hierarchy is complex and fascinating.

A female cheetah can patrol an area of 100km squared, whilst having to return to her young to make sure they’re okay, that’s pretty awesome in my books...

I have no idea re the Goshawk, will have a google.

I mentioned Kites as they were almost wiped out until recent years and now there is an abundance of them, they’re amazing to watch inflight.

That is a typical cat character. Always on their terms and their terms only! Mine was a cantankerous aloof individual but I loved her to bits!

I adore animals and actually watched the documentary on the plane to Florida, where I then went to see the orca and dolphin show, which I admit I absolutely loved. Shame they aren't treated the way any animal should be

Wild animal- either elephants or sloths (they just appeal to me)

Domestic- has to be cats as we have two

Insect- ants or termites, saw some amazing termite hills in Florida.

Bird- I'd have to say something small like a budgie

Reptile- bearded dragon

I've worked in my local zoo casually for a couple of years and I fell for the meerkats. Their keeper told me one time that a treat they love is grapes and snuck some in one time and wat he'd them eat them. Their faces would screw up when they bit through the grape and the juice hit their mouths. It was adorable

"What are your favourite animals?

Mammals, insects, arachnids, reptiles, birds, fish.. wharrever.

A celebration of the wilder things in life.

I love Orca's. I'm fascinated by them. It amazes me that the Oceans top predator doesn't see us as a food source and has not once (as far as I'm aware) killed a human in the wild.

I can only put it down to them having a level of intelligence we don't fully understand yet. Even their smaller cousin, the bottle bored dolphin has been known to chest ram the odd diver on occasion.

"

Wolves for me, being a woodsman and having lived wild I kind if understand their way of life, particularly the timber wolf, who have a social life akin to a human family and yet remain very secretive where humans are concerned.. Cant blame them on that, for we have given them a reputation they do not deserve for there is no recird of an attack on humans which was not provoked by the human in the first place. You saying about the orca, it is now believed that the great white does not predate on humans either, in fact it is believed they do not like the way we taste because research is showing that rarely does it eat a human and yet it kills or maims. The reason is thought to be that it mistakes our form in the water to be something such as a seal and goes in for the kill, remembering a great white is technically blind at the point of the bite as it rolls its eyes back to protect them.. It seems at this first bite the mighty creature decides to spit not swallow.. Maybe its too salty excuse long post

Of the domestic variety- for me it has to be dogs and horses! Loyal, beautiful and useful!

Of wild animals - foxes and squirrels in the UK - and a whole plethora of animals from other continents including tigers, elephants, giraffes, pandas, whales - the list is endless!

I just wish so many humans weren’t saw fucking awful and had zero regard for the welfare/preservation of any of them! Makes me desperately sad and angry at the same time!

Loved my horse and pooch, both gone now but working amongst nature I have so many creatures in my life and it is time humankind realised we need and should respect all living things on this great planet of ours

"I have a love for butterflies although they aren't my favourite. I find there's something so seemingly innocent about them, they fly around all haphazard and have no idea of their own beauty. They've survived and changed so much to get where they are in their short lives, they bring people joy and haven't a clue.

I also like having metaphorical ones in my tummy.

P"

The Welsh for butterfly is Pili Pala.

That’s pretty cool.

In fact, Welsh has amazing names for animals (and flowers)

Hamster = fat cheeks (bochdew)

Badger = earth pig (mochyn daear)

There’s loads more.

My favourite animal is the drummer in the Muppets
