"Australia's Northern Territory - infinite emptiness (for the most part), red earth, gum trees, Kakadu national park, Kings Canyon, waterfalls, rivers, the majesty of Uluru and its changing colours, Kata Tjuta - more remarkable rock formations, the perpetual contrast of red against deep blue sky, the amazingly crisp light - the wow factor is everywhere. I would love to go back and drive across it again." Great choice! Is The Kimberly National Park in that region? Again I could Google, but I prefer asking you, if you know. I'd love to visit The Kimberly. Had my chance to visit Australia, but blew all my money in SEAsia.

I drove myself around both big islands in New Zealand and so much beauty but Moraki and its boulders will always be with me. Iceland and the Aurora (thrice in one trip). I want to go back in the summer and see the land. The Giant's Causeway was so special. I loved the whole drive up the coast road and the walk across the Causeway. One of the pictures I took is my screensaver. " Lyme Bay as in the UK? I'd love to go to NZ, I want to meet the Maori Lots of beautiful scenery I hear as well. I'd like to see Milford Sound.

Yep, the Canadian side - the US side has its tacky gift shops too but they're mostly further back away from the Falls themselves, although that may have something to do with the geographical layout of the US side that prevents too much build up - the Canadian side however is awful, and totally ruins any pre-conceived images.

"I've seen some amazing sites around the world, but near here there a small old church on a hill, a footpath runs through the graveyard and you approach it through a natural archway in the trees. There's a bench in the churchyard that looks back the way you've come and the lie of the land means you can't see anything man made other than some graves, other than that it's a clear view in to the fields and nearby woods. It might sound daft but I love bring there, it's so tranquil " Britain is a beautiful collection of countries with many of its own well loved and well protected sites. It's something I think we do better than most other countries I've lived in. Makes me happy that two of you have mentioned UK sites. In London of all places That's impressive

In London of all places That's impressive " Not quite a wonder of the world in the sense you mean - but mention of London and tranquillity bought it to mind, so had to mention it - near St Paul's and slap bang in the middle of the City Of London and all it's hustle bustle is Postman's Park - it's fairly non-descript, but is the home of the Memorial to Heroic Self-Sacrifice which is a wall consisting of a series of ceramic plaques each of them with a brief story and commemorating "ordinary people who died saving the lives of others and who might otherwise have been forgotten" - the park is incredibly tranquil despite its location and the wall of plaques is incredibly moving. If anyone is in the area I thoroughly recommend a visit.

Pyramids I can't I'm afraid, they're slave-made and not natural.. although stunning. New evidence is showing that the pyramids were made by paid labourers not slaves. They even had good medical facilities for workers who gained injuries from their work. Interesting viewing on the discovery channels " Really? Do you have a link I can follow. I love Ancient history, but for some reason the Ancient Egyptians don't really float my boat as much as the Assyrians, Babylonians etc. Maybe it's something I'll reinvestigate and find a new love for. I'm aware there's loads more they're finding out about sites they never knew existed or had only theorised over. All thanks to new technology.

"Frankly, if you can get yourself anywhere unaffected by light and air pollution, and on a cloudless night, you can experience one of nature's wonders just by looking up into the night sky. There probably are remote places in the UK where you can do this (though none near me) but the best experiences I've had were at the top of Mount Sinai in Egypt and in outback Australia. Honestly, I was practically in tears the first time I *really* saw a starry sky - one which looked as if a giant had thrown a huge pot of glitter across it. Stars of varying sizes and brightness as far as the eye could see, shooting stars, satellites (yeah, man made I know) on their recurring courses across the sky. It wasn't simply the constellations you usually see but great swirls and ribbons of stars as well and it felt totally magical and other worldly. I sat there for hours gobsmacked and overwhelmed. Just awesome, and I hope I can experience that again one day, albeit like a lot of others I would also love to see the Northern Lights too, at which point I'd probably cry (again )" Great answer. When I lived in Middle East, we'd go camping in the desert miles away from civilization. You've never seen anything like it. The night sky in Iraq sleeping on top of an armoured vehicle.. I saw five shooting stars.. made three wishes. Marry the woman I loved, not hurt anyone and not get hurt myself. Very vivid memory, beautiful night.

"More on our doorstep: Snowdonia national park is firmly one of my favourites - as are the lakes and north York Moors. All year round they offer something. Further afield: Diving in nature reserves in the red sea and off the coast of Okinawa just really highlights the complexity of how interdependent everything on our planet is." I've always wanted to visit Japan for loads of reasons. Seeing the hot tub macaques and mount Fuji would be high on the list.

"Parts of Peak and Lake district are stunning. Plus particular liking for rugged coast lines. " Britain is a beautiful country once you get past all the concrete and asphalt.

"Sooooo many.. The mountains of Britain, when you re the only one there, whatever the weather, truly magnificent... Everest base camp, but what I loved more from this trip was seeing the quiet interaction of humankind with nature.. Gorgeous! Our very own Mounts Bay, Penzance.. Where I am this minute, listening to the surf.. St Michaels Mount standing ekegantly within the tapestry of sea " Everest scares me. I don't think I'd ever be tempted to climb it.

"Frozen waterfalls in Iceland. Northern lights from a sea fjord in Malsoffosen in Norway while fishing. Diving the great barrier reef. The blue mountains just north of Sydney. The eerie quiet from camping in Joshua Tree national park. The peace of Koh Mook in Thailand, woken by the cicadas and seeing the sunrise over the Thai mainland. The grand canyon. Canoeing round parts of Vancouver island, watching whales and being chased by seals. Seeing the milky way while staying in a tent in Tunisia. The awesomeness of the Bavarian Alps, rock climbing and klettersteiging. Watching red squirrels from a secluded cottage in the highlands. Driving along the northernmost road in the mainland and heading out to a headland spit.. Looking across miles of headland on a beautiful sunny day." You sound like my sort of travelling companion

The sun had a clearly visible, definitive ring around it.. about two fingers width as you held your hand up to the sun. The sky was hazy and it lasted a fair old while. I believe it's when you're standing directly under a ray of light. Particles in the air, show you the border of that prism of light. I'm no weather expert.. just trying to put into words as I saw it. If we moved 50m in either direction. We lost it. Step back into the zone and you can see it again. Quite rare outside of the Poles and icey weather I'm led to believe.

"There was a moon halo here a few nights ago. I’d never seen one so clear and precise. Was really cool. Something else our universe is responsible for that I will never tire of is a rainbow. They were magic when we were kids and I still find them a bit magical. Always get a “oooh look what a lovely rainbow” reaction. Can’t help but smile. V x " I do too. They're beautiful.
