Are you ever put off from a person because of their profile text?

Regularly I see ‘be creative in your message’ ‘stand out from the hundreds of messages I receive a day’.

Kudos for you and all that but it’s not a job interview... sometimes I did it harder to say anything when there’s that sort of profile because I already feel the need to impress.

Yes I’m put off by shouty profiles, profiles that are lists of things and men’s profiles that come across like they don’t even like women.

If you boast, sound arrogant or big yourself up as being the best at something. They are all things that I find unappealing in a person.

I like to think that my profile is ok (please tell me if it is not!) And understand where you are comming from OP.

I also getbthat the male/female ratio on here pretty much means a woman can put any demands she wants and hoops to jump through and obsticles, barriers etc (or just preferences as i believe they are actually called) on their profile and still get hundreds of messages. Most of which are probably not what she was looking for and thus leads to the read my profile rants.

I think it kinda cuts both ways mate.

While I agree with you, if I know I’m not for someone I wouldn’t get in touch.

However if someone makes it more difficult than it already is then I just feel like ‘what’s the point?’ Makes me feel that even if they were to get back in touch, I could piss them off at the drop of a hat.

Having seen the messages that we get from guys somehow mistaking us for a single woman, I can see why many put barriers and blockers up. If they want to be impressed, then it’s your job to impress them. Don’t want to or feel too intimidated? Then look elsewhere. People here have a right to ask to be messaged in a manner that suits them.

If a profile is a list of demands I usually stop reading. I know it can be difficult if you have strong preferences or are looking for something quite specific to get the point across that you're not open to meeting everyone. If the demands relate to the type of messages they don't want to receive I usually just think 'use your filters'. I'm not keen on cock pics, messages that just say Hi or How U, or meet now requests... But I use my filters wisely and don't get hundreds of messages a day anyway... So it's quite easy to manage my mail and not get huffy when someone does slip a cock pic or message that doesn't captivate my mind into my mailbox

I prefer someone that writes something more thought provoking - the list of demands may not necessarily put me off, if there is something else interesting in the profile.

I appreciate that women must have lots of tedious messages to deal with - but if the sole focus of the profile is to get people to jump through hoops then I happily take their advice and 'jog on' - it is a two way street and I am better than that.

But the proportion of "viable " messages might be higher if the profile text wasn't awful.

As we see from other responses above, poor profile text puts off the discerning, leaving just the knuckle draggers. I'd be surprised if that was what anyone wanted.

Text will put me off, definitely. I read a profile before looking at photos.

Short one, 'will fill in later' or 'ask me' I will avoid like the plague. But surprisingly, couples and single female profiles have these and still have verifications.

Text talk. Luckily this is being seen less and less.

Kik. If I see someone's Kik address, it usually means they are just after wank fodder.

Demands. From putting a certain word into the subject line to must have 12" cock, smooth all over, blah, blah.

Much prefer to read a long profile as you tend to get more of an idea than just looking at one paragraph and 120 photos.
