"Thanks. I was fostered and then adopted by my parents. I'm in touch with my birth mum. My parents fostered a few children and I'm considering putting something on genes reunited to see if anyone they fostered before me remembers them. " I am sure anyone who has been fostered will remember the foster parents. Do it, you have nothing to loose and lots to gain xxxx

"I'm adopted, have never met my birth family, never want to. I did Foster care, a dozen boys over 18yrs. I started doing short term respite care, but had a couple who stayed with me for several years. The eldest is now 30 youngest 18, all still in contact, a couple are local I see them quite regularly, others now as far as Australia, Canada & Italy but social media, Facebook Insta, Twitter chats I get Mothers day, birthday & Christmas cards. I feel honoured to have been a part of their lives & watch them all grow up into fine young men. " Thats a lovely post

"Apologies if this hijacks the thread. Has any foster parents been asked to adopt any of their children, as I recently saw a few clips on YouTube were the child gives the parents adoption papers." There are now two "styles" of foster care. The traditional, look after a long list of kids over a number of years. Generally social services won't encourage these guys to adopt, it takes them out of the (shrinking) fostering pool! But recent legislation and changes of policy, means there is a new style where you basically foster a child with a view to adopting them once all the court hearings are dealt with... i.e. the child cannot be put completely on the adoption track until all the other avenues have been explored, and all the family members that pop up to offer help have been discounted...
