Grey hair on a woman in her 30's

Jump to newest

By (user no longer on site) OP

So, I have grey hair. Not all over, 3 very distinct white streaks at the front of my dark hair as well sporadic ones in the rest. I've had no choice but to stop using any dye because of allergies and that is that. As much as I tell myself I rock it (some days I do), there are times when I feel self-conscious. I've not arranged any meets as yet, partly as I'm unsure of how my hair will be received.

I don't know any other women my age who have grey hair, but plenty of men. Is this so unusual that I need to stipulate it on my profile? Or am I totally overthinking this and do I need to chill out?

Show it in a face picture. I get why you're self conscious, but people will take you or leave you.

I think commentary on her profile is inappropriate here, and commenting on her pubic hair when she's asking about her head is creepy.

I’d love to see more girls with the confidence to let it show.

The problem seems to be that once you start colouring it’s a big step not to.

You girls don’t like that “showing your roots” look.

My mum found my first grey hair when I was 16.

There's a lot of pressure put on us to look 21 until we're 55+.

I don’t think you need to mention it at all. Presumably you will swap a photo with someone you are planning to meet so they will see it then. I love grey hair on men and women. It isn’t necessarily aging either. I’m sure you will look wonderful OP

Mention it if you get chatting with someone on here if you want, but I reckon you’re worrying over nothing.

Believe it or not, we’ve all got bits of us that we don’t like but most people we meet either don’t notice, accept it or don’t care

Having looked at your profile pics and being a man I can guarantee you that men you might meet won't give a flying fuck about the grey.

My ex had grey hair in early thirties. Like yourself she was allergic to most hair colouring.

She went to an expert where they patch tested the hell out of her before finding a couple of colours she could use. Last time I saw her it was purple and blonde.

Failing that you could always shave it off and rock that look

I've clicked on your profile and seen your recent photos - I think the grey hair is beautiful (not in a patronising way). It's not something I think you need to disclaimer on your profile - I don't say that if we have shower sex my hair will get curly and turn in to a full on 'fro.

You're beautiful as is OP. Well your figure is hot as fuck.

You have pics on your profile and they're clear enough to me. People can choose, same as they do about everyone.

Personally, I'm more interested in personality and looks as a whole rather than one particular element of a person's appearance.

I think it's ace.

Mine is awful but given the chance I'd choose yours, where it looks neat and though you've chosen it that way, than doing what I did and started dying. Mine needs dying every 3 weeks to keep on top of it and it's a bloody mission.

Your curls are awesome and the white/grey streaks actually look really deliberate! Rock it and own it. Anyone who doesn't want you because of it, it's their loss. If they're dicks about it, block them. You've got an amazing figure and I'm sure lots to offer other than just the physical/aesthetic so fake it til you make it with the confidence

I can say with 100% conviction - no man will look at your hair and say - nope, my dick isn't going in there!!!

Don't overthink it - insecurities shared can be off putting/lead to people taking advantage of you etc.

You’ve got the diamond topped cane which is a good start, it’s also useful if the shower sex needs a little life knocking into it

It’s inevitable that the sycophantic comments will flow when a woman asks a question like this , and that is always a great ego boost .

But the reality remains , and if you still feel self conscious , that will be reflected in the way you come across to people when you meet them .

Personally we much prefer people who are confident in who and what they are . So insecurity , whether it be in size or grey hair , isn’t a good trait . If you do still feel self conscious , and can’t embrace it , have you tried tints of nature or herbatint hair dye ? Both are suitable for those who have allergies and can’t use traditional hair dyes .

If you can embrace your look then don’t fret over it as it will draw attention to your insecurities .

There and to the left a bit

I haven't seen your pics OP, so can hopefully answer in a way that won't be suggested is sycophantic or a means to an end....

....honest answer is you're probably over thinking it - the majority of us are our own worst critics when it comes to how we look or act, we see things that others don't and worry about them more than we probably need to as a result.

If you're self-conscious of it, that's only natural, and there's not a great deal you can do to counter that, other than meeting people and with time you'll realise that they don't comment on it, or even notice it to the point that you just come to accept it as being part of who you are, and the way you look.

To use an analogy, it's a little like when you decorate a room - there's *always* one bit that doesn't quite go right, or that irritates you - no-one else notices it, unless you draw attention to it, and even then they say it doesn't matter or isn't noticeable, but you know it's there, and every time you step into that room for a while after you first finished decorating, you notice it and it bugs you - then over time you notice it less and less until finally you can't even remember what it was let alone leg it bug you.

By all means mention it to people as something you are self-conscious about, if through chatting you feel comfortable to do so and the right moment arises, but I would be very surprised if anyone was the slightest bit phased by it, and I certainly wouldn't think it was necessary to tell people about it.
