Just watched the Devils Double now, very interesting but sad film in some ways.

I always wonder though how much of that genre of film is actually real and how much is fabricated

.

Carve her name with pride. The story of war widow Violette Szabo, who was a secret agent during the Second World War.

The film contains a poem by Leo Marks and I think it is so beautiful

The life that I have

Is all that I have

And the life that I have

Is yours

The love that I have

Of the life that I have

Is yours and yours and yours.

A sleep I shall have

A rest I shall have

Yet death will be but a pause

For the peace of my years

In the long green grass

Will be yours and yours and yours.

I watched Killing Bono last night which is loosely based on a true story. Dark humour abound and I enjoyed Pete Postlethwaite's final performance.

Yup Aileen Wuornos - the Nick Broomfield documentaries about her are also captivating.

I watched that the other weekend... I would imagine very little was fabricated to be honest.

Great performance by Dominic Cooper.

London

I loved Awakenings too.

A number of films based on true stories have go on to encourage me to explore the subject matter further and find out everything there is to know about it, which is never a bad thing, as these films are rarely, if ever subjective.

Those that have done so are:

Hillsborough

Bloody Sunday (The James Nesbitt one)

Wall Of Silence

The Murder of Stephen Lawrence

We Are Marshall

Murder in the Outback

And The Band Played On

Also the recent film about the Busby Babes and the Munich Air Crash was very moving.

I do also watch comedies, but not many comedies are based on True Stories.

The Amittyville horror...wasnt it based on a 'true' story..made up by the owners..which in reality was a load of bollocks (much like the film!)..just to rack the house price up
