Facebook's Statement of Rights and Responsibilities says that you need to be 13 years old to have an account on Facebook

I communicate with my cousins daughter who to my knowledge has been on there a couple of years now and she was only ten just before Christmas. Maybe parents have to give consent or something if they are younger, not sure.

Facebook don't care as long as people are joining. There is a 7 yr old across the road from me who has an account. I'm lead to believe a neighbour reported it.. but they haven't done anything about it.

Judging by some of the shite that some people put on Facebook, you could be excused for thinking that the minimum age is 2

If she's got to the point where she's sent you a friend's request then she knows what she's doing on f/b. by accepting her request you can monitor her more closely than if you didn't accept it.

My daughter was on f/b at 11 and if I'd barred her until she was 13 she would have felt isolated from all her chums who were already using it. F/b have to have a minimum age policy to comply with whatever local laws they are subject to.
