It's a beautiful island.

St Paul's bay is wonderful.

Mdina is a fantastic little place to explore. Loads of historical landmarks and buildings.

Gozo, picturesque island getaway.

Wonderful year round weather.

I'm slightly jealous.

Some of it is fantastic, some of it is disastrously "Brits abroad" but overall it looks a gorgeous place to live.

Yeah, I believe it's very conservative (from what I remember- I last went there over a decade ago).

I wouldn't worry about that. Just enjoy the experience of where you'll be living.

I haven't been since I was 16 but I loved it. My maternal grandparents were of Maltese descent. I was frequently taken for a native when I was there. The Brits used to be well thought of but I have no idea what it's like now. I remember the driving was scary!

You are not going to find any swinging there...

Your best bet is to make friends with tourists on holiday, if you’re looking for any kind of fun...

GF and I had scweek in Meliha Bay at beginning of November, 23dg sunny all day. Driving around I had the impression it’d be a place where I’d like to live.

Not much of a swinging scene though apparantly.

Hope it goes well OP, wish you luck.

"whilst some complain there is nothing going on here, you experienced it first time here with local ! how cool is that !"

We cannot complain. We met an amazing couple who were both good looking and made us feel at ease. They taught us all we needed to know. Gave us not just a great time and hospitality but also a good base to start our swinging experience. We wouldn't have been here if we haven't met them

Fungus rock on Gozo, and snorkelling around Comino.

They have pretty decent beer too

We’ve tried to do some research for nudist beaches, then found out it’s illegal to be nude on the beaches lol.

We are there later in the year, does anybody know where we can get away with it, closest we will get to swinging by the sounds of it x

all said and done it's a pretty traditional Roman catholic country, and their views reflect that

You may be lucky if you can find a cove on the west coast or pull up somewhere on Comino if you hire a boat

I've had more holidays in Malta than anywhere else, and love the place.

As far as a FAB oriented place, there is very little going on, if anything. On my last visit about 6 years ago, I'd an enjoyable Meet with a couple near to Bugibba. But the arrangements made prior to meeting them were extreme as they had no wish for family or friends finding out.

The Catholic Church still has a strong hold on everyone, with everyone dutifully filing into church every Sunday. Plus, all the original Maltese people all know each other; there are no secrets between them!

That said, they are so tolerant of the Brits, welcome you with open arms and you'll get on well with them. Most other races are welcome but they despise the Germans totally.

May your last visit was 60 years ago rather than 6 years ! Who despises the Germans ? Are you for real ? And no, I am an 'original' Maltese but do not know all of the other 400 thousand something 'original' Maltese. Maybe you ought to have some respect when commenting, remembering we are not a British colony

A visit 60 years ago would have meant me being 4 years old.

In fact, I'd holidays there 4 times over 10 years, my last visit being 6 years ago.

The elements of older Maltese people who don't like Germans still exists to this day. I witnessed hostility towards German tourists by shopkeepers, bus and taxi drivers plus at one hotel, my Tour Rep, herself Maltese, admitted there was still anti-German feeling after what they did to the island and its people in WW2.

I have true Maltese friends in the UK who say the same too, so I have said what I've experienced first hand.
