Simple food, mozzarella cheese sliced with slices of tomato and layered around a tray or plate a pinch of salt and black pepper with a drizzle of olive oil and sprinkle some basil over it.

A big bowl of salad.

Garlic bread.

Pizzas.

Cook some chips or similar.

Sausage rolls.

Crisps and nibbles.

Bread sticks and dips.

Cakes or sweets.

+ pickled onions.... many a buffet I have frowned upon because there were no pickled onions for me to struggle with sticking my fork in, for them to go flying off my paper plate

A vanilla get together or a fabs type get together?

Avoid all garlic and strong spicy foods for the latter!

Have you tried a fresh pineapple cut into chunks and put into a tupperware tub, add 1/3 of a bottle of cheap malibu and leave in fridge for 3-4days.

Add a little more malibu if required when checking through the week.

i did chinese food for my house birthday party...could prep the veg and rice in the day, ribs ect in the oven, prawns marinaded then chucked under the grill, meats prepared and chilled. Dumplings from the chinese supermarket,

Then chuck stuff in the wok, 10 minutes cooking tops, and ppl can nibble on the ribs, wontons ect. Part buffet, part meal it went down really well.
