No. And I wouldn’t. Can’t see how that’s healthy and safe at all.

Sounds like a good way to make yourself very unwell! Definitely wouldn't advise and if set upon the idea would suggest discussing it over with your GP first...!

The first 2 to 3 days are the worst. After that you could probably do 5.

It’s extremely hard, you get headaches and can feel very sluggish. It’s not the best for fat loss as you’ll lose muscle and won’t really burn energy from fat stores it will come from water weight and muscles.

What’s the motive for the fast?

I would have thought that was very unhealthy and also I don't really know what health benefits that would have.

Drinking plenty of water is good but also is having a healthy balanced diet.

Hmm I wouldn’t have experience with fasting for mental clarity. It does give you headaches though so don’t know if that would help achieve mental clarity.

Why not do some yoga or meditation?

Or fast but do a 500 calorie fast, eat the same time every day and have a good sleep each night.

So what are the benefits of doing it then because it just seems like there's only negative.

My friend did this for 4 days and felt healthier both mentally and physically. Personally, I like my grub too much and don't have the self discipline

Detox is the main one. Can lower blood pressure and help with diabetes. Can help your body recycle and remove old cells.

I wouldn’t recommend it for weight loss though cos you will lose the wrong type of weight, it won’t be fat it will be muscle stores.

I’m not actually about to do it!

I wanted opinions, before I decided. Send it really isn’t a good idea though. Maybe the 500 calories is the way to go. Thanks for all your comments xx

Are the headaches usually carb withdrawal? I've done it pre keto after a few days lower carb and had no issues at all.

Manchester (she/her)

I don't think extreme measures are the way to go, being fasting or severe calorie restriction. From a quick Google, water fasting sounds somewhere between counterproductive and dangerous.

Eat more veggies, watch your calories and portion sizes. For mental clarity, exercise is awesome.

city

My mum did it and ended up in hospital for 3 weeks and had to spend months recovering.

Her potassium and sodium levels fell off the chart, she collapsed, acid in her stomach gave her ulcers, her blood pressure meant she couldnt climb stairs, and she was diagnosed with delerium.

It's pretty much a diet for retards.

For mental peformance you need the High carb, and lean protien diet. In tests, you lose more fat than muscle compared to atkins or other diets. You peform better mentally, and you never feel hungry or sluggish.

You have to pick natural carbs, avoid man made food, and pick the leanest cuts of meat possible. You also have to avoid all sauces, and avoid adding fat to foods, like cheese on a burger kind of thing.

Ok I understand that but is there medical evidence behind that, particularly with the diabetes?

I know that a very low calorie diet in some cases has been proved to put type 2 diabetes in remission, but I think that is done under intense medical supervision from what I understand.

I guess i would just be spectacle of what the actual benefits would be and would you not get the same benefits from just drinking plenty of water and having a very healthy balanced diet.
