Out of all the Tribes, Societies and Civilizations that have come before us. Which draw you to them?

Maori? Viking? Anglo Saxon? Norman? Mayan? Pygmy? Roman? Greek? Assyrian? Persian? Babylonian?

The Vikings for me, I have always been fascinated on there sea travels in an open boat and navigating with a chunk of iolite, and they travelled much further than just across the English Channel.

All over Europe, from Russia to Black Sea I believe. Greenland to Canada possibly. I think they were a pretty cool bunch, good choice.

The Celts. Whether you can still consider England to be a Celtic country is a matter for debate, however, it is true that the majority of our gene pool can be traced back to the original Celtic tribes despite subsequent dilution.

Furthermore, much of modern paganism draws it's inspiration from their religious practices and taking their culture and art into account are the reasons i most feel drawn to them.

I have a very strong attachment to the Celts, I'm also a pagan so the old ways intrigue me.

Been getting drawn to Polynesian/pacific culture a lot lately too, apparently they are quite closely linked if you look back far enough.

Everyone is if you go back far enough, that's why I think we've all got a claim on every culture going. Why I like history.

I think the older the culture, the more likely it is to based around the environmental spirits. Share a form of basic spiritualism that's thanking the Earth for providing. In tune with their surroundings, far better than we are today. Any culture like that appeals to me, despite my total lack of Spirituality or Faith.

I m a woodsman, always have been so I m very drawn to North American for their stories and beliefs in the earth and sky gods and their ways... Closer to home, viking /Celt/Saxon... Being amateur archeologist/historian and woodsman I find all the indigenous peoples innteresting, but have a hell of a respect for what the Romans and Ghenkis created, but like all great empires, they all suffered at the hands of power politics etc.... Excellent thread.. Love it. Btw, a few years back an old site was found in a remote part of Canada and when excavated small pieces of bog iron was found... Only people linked with bog iron was the viking, it placed them further north than believed before.. Best I stop rambling now

I couldn't agree more, regardless of what you choose to believe, but that's modern society for you. There are many factors behind our current problems and much of what was known has been lost. I'm not saying it would fix everything but i think it's a good start.

Kublai? No, I don't watch TV all that much anymore if I'm honest. I know the history though. Marco Polo is one of the few Europeans to travel into the Mongol Empire and back out again unscathed. Although by the time Marco Polo met him, Kublai was more a Chinese Emperor the Khan of the Mongol Empire.

There's a Tribe in Borneo (I think) called the Penang. They own no possessions, even sexual relationships being Polyamourousis acceptable and normal behaviour amongst the nomadic jungle people of the rainforest.
