Data breach

Are you on any sites where a data breach would you cause you issues?

Mumsnet is the latest site to be hit by a data breach. Apparently some users may have been able to access other people's mail and forum posts.

Would this bother you?

O o O oo

Surely forum posts would be seen by everyone anyway?

To be honest, unless there are bank details involved it wouldn't bother me what anyone could see if there was a cock up with an update like on there.... although I never save bank/card details ( but who knows what companies keep from that info even if you say you don't want them saved )

My PayPal account was hacked and someone made two "charity" donations from my credit card.

Not a data breach per se but the pics on here often end up on Chan sites.

Especially some of the TS/TV pics in some very cruel threads.

I don’t trust much online any more.

I think maybe it meant they could post on that forum as other people. Might get a bit toasty, they seem to post some weird stuff to say it's 'for mums'.

I usually go back and delete card details off sites but good point, we can't really know if they do delete them.

That risk will be on all sites. Pics can be saved easily or screen shot.

PayPal helped to contribute somehow to a massive fuck up with me. I've deleted the damn thing.

People are routinely sending pictures and private information to total strangers on here, with the hope they'll get shagged.

If you're prepared to take that gamble and hope the information isn't abused, then the chances of being hacked seem fairly insignificant?

Nope use my information. most sites I'm on don't have my true information. So doesn't bother me.

Change your passwords at least every six months; uppercase/lowercase letters, numbers and symbols. Use a free database like Keypass to store them in

PlayStation (Sony) years ago. Had to change all my passwords and cards. Caused me to be aware of not having the same passwords in the internet.
