I certainly don't hate these versions, after-all both covers were done with the best of motives, and both raised tons of dosh for a great cause….!.

But !!!!!!!!

Band Aid "2‘s" version of, Do They Know It's Christmas

Band Aid’s "20's" version of, Do They Know It's Christmas

Were musically pale versions of the original line-up's effort !

Am I wrong ?

I must admit even if we have a precious attachment to an earlier version of any song, I find the concept of “genuinely hating” a cover piece a little over the top.

However I totally understand the feeling of revulsion which can occur having your senses assaulted by spurious versions of songs where indiscriminate performers have an audacity to imply their random covering adds a value to it ………

So having said that, and even though the original holds no significance to me ,,,,, in the case of Elton John’s 1997 reworking of his own “Candle In The Wind”,,,,,,, I could violently puke every-time I hear it,,,,,

Most of the posts are about artists who have covered a song, and "murdered" it by doing it in their own style.

The ones I hate are covers that sound almost identical with the original. What's the point (apart from the cash)

Two that spring to mind -

Spice Girls - It's raining men

A1 - Take on me
