If you ever find a copy of The Creation singing 'Hey Joe' I'll buy it off of you.

It was only recorded as a demo and never released as a single by their label at the time...Mercury Records.

They later cut a 'Best of The Creation' album but 'Hey Joe' is only featured on a handful of early cut examples that were released on the Continent.

The Demo single version of 'Hey Joe' by The Creation is probably worth many hundreds of pounds if you ever find one.

creation vinly singles are very rare and expensive and do indeed cost hundreds of pounds~,vinyl lp's too can run into hundreds!~,hey joe is on 2 of my creation lp's one is "we are paintermen" on german label hit-ton,the other is italian "how does it feel".

i suppose you do know the story behind eddie phillips and the violin bow used on his guitar and later copied by led-zeps jimmy page?.

the action too on vinyl are very rare.

We have an early recording of the Creation under their original name 'The Mark Four' on a white label from the company Decca.....'Hurt me if you will'

As far as we are aware Decca only sent out 32 copies of this song to radio stations, this copy we have is marked 19/32.

We also have a signed copy of 'How does it feel' by The Creation on US Decca....signed by Eddie Phillips, probably just a few days or weeks before he was replaced by Ronnie Wood who only played on two records before he joined up with Jeff Beck.

My other half inter_iewed Phillips a few years ago at The Marquee.

did a few returns to the group over the years and it was kenny who when roady for early led-zep told jimmy page about the violin/viola bow playing that eddie did and jimmy used it to great acclaim but it was an edie phillips first.

have just ordered "purple flashes"dvd from amazon.

In my opinion very few cover versions improve on the original.

Some of the disco era covers - I remember some diva murdering Bridge Over Troubled Water - should have been binned at birth.

Them's (with Van Morrison) Baby Please Don't Go beat the original by Big Joe Williams by a mile, and if you ever heard the original of He Ain't Heavy by Kelly Gordon, you'd probably want to give The Hollies an award!

Although I just listened to Arethas version which the piano and Hammond interaction at the beginning is truly beautiful, it takes the song in an interesting direction

And with Hendrix, I prefer the Monterey version of Like a Rolling Stone for his Dylan covers

i like the cover of 'baby its you' by adele which brings a great song to the masses,but you cannot beat the original by the shirelles featuring shirley alston,i think dionne warwicke used to sing back up on some of the shirelles early hits as she was a member for a few years till going solo.
