"I've not noticed it. Perhaps Kerry Katona's celebrity personality is far less likable than Ant's? I think so. I think they're both dickheads if I'm brutally honest. Don't have much sympathy for either of them. " I did think about using Katy Price as an example of a fallen female celebrity but thought better of it.

"I think it is timing. At the moment Mental Health is used as a " reason " for everything. At the time of her troubles it wasn't so prevalent. She has had bi polar for years, there has been a shift of how people see Mental Health now. Ant had a drink and prescription drug problem. At the time of his arrest many said " there there poor Ant" I can't imagine why they would say that as if it was a man down your road smashing into cars while d*unk they would be saying what a plonker ( as I thought about him ) Maybe it is a sign of the times as she wouldn't get treated that way now, or people seem to like him more as a person, who knows " Good point about her bipolar, I'd forgotten about that. I think I remember her being slated for it at the time she 'came out' as it was still a mostly unknown kind of thing.

"Ant beloved t.v. presenter many of us grew up with as a children's host before he aged with us. Kerry part of a short lived paint by numbers band and the iceland adverts. Sure its not jusy that shes kinda insufferable but he's been in most of his viewers lives for a couple of decades" I'm wondering if she's disliked because she's a woman with issues or because she's a knob. Johnny Depp hasn't really resurfaced after his issues.

"Women do seem to have a much easier life though i mean in ages 25-60 only 35% of women work full time. A lot of men would love to be supported by a partner to either be unemployed or only have to do part time" And many in that age group, have had successful careers, built their own businesses from zero, while raising children & running a home single handedly!

" Are men forgiven much easier but women given a harder ride? Another example, when men run off and leave their kids no-one bats an eyelid. When a mum leaves there's uproar. Why the difference?" Going with your second example and my own experience; A woman who walks away from her child, especially a very young one, can find herself verbally and even physically attacked for doing so. Even today, 25 years on, I still hear people comment “they can’t understand how a woman can leave her 16 month old child”. A man wouldn’t have had anything like this kind of a reaction and certainly not after so many years.

I know very few women who fall into the catorgary you refer too.

"Women do seem to have a much easier life though i mean in ages 25-60 only 35% of women work full time. A lot of men would love to be supported by a partner to either be unemployed or only have to do part time" Those women are usually housewives and mothers. It’s easier to work a 60 hour week in my job than do my part time hours at work but then have the school run, the cleaning, the running my kid to after school classes and clubs, the nagging, the cooking. When you just work when your shift is done and you get home you’re done. When you’re a parent you can’t even have a shit without some small person nagging you for something.

" I used to hear so many mums complaining how hard it was being a housewife or part time with kids as we stood outside the junior school gates. I worked. Started my own business and single handedly brought two daughters up. I didn’t get a penny from either of my ex’s and they didn’t even have my girls for any weekends or holidays. I had no family nearby either. It was an awesome time and the three of us loved it. I cooked from scratch. Never went out asI had no one to sit for me. My house was clean. My kids well presented. It’s not as hard as people like to claim it is.

I’m not sure that not working means you have an easier life either. There are many reasons why folk don’t work.

"On a different slant but the same topic, will Liam Neeson bounce back ? " I hope so. The papers have put a stupid slant on it for the masses though. Saw the headlines today. Disappointing but not surprised.

"Kerry Katona has said she feels the public have shown much more forgiveness to Ant McPartlin than her because he's a man. She's had issues with mental illness and substance abuse. Her career took a hit and never really recovered. Ant was found guilty of drink driving. He and Dec recently won a joint NTA award even though Ant hasn't been on screen for a year. Are men forgiven much easier but women given a harder ride? Another example, when men run off and leave their kids no-one bats an eyelid. When a mum leaves there's uproar. Why the difference?" Chalk and cheese though, he was at least talented.
