Who is your favourite classical composer of all time and what is your favourite piece?

Wagner. Can't beat the drama of The Ride of the Valkyries. Mussorgsky did some jolly tunes too.

For me there are far to many brilliant composers to have a favourite composer or favourite piece. But after my soundtrack phase last week I listened to a number of pieces I like.

JS Bach's Goldberg variations played by Glenn Gould (Hannibal Lecter's favourite)

Mozert's Great Mass

JS Bach Cruxifixius

Nobody did it quite like Benjamin Britten but that was partly because some of what he (allegedly) did wasn't quite legal.

Still, depending on who you believe, his misdemeanors may have brought about his downfall so if he did fall on his own sword then there's no sympathy here.

Thanks for the tunes, shame about the other stuff.
