Or is someone too keen a turn off?

Someone called me "intimidating", once I stopped laughing all I could think was how off-putting it is.

I get that some people buy into all that "out of my league" type stuff but surely showing confidence is a better approach? Believe in yourself first? Play to your strengths?

I think there's a fine line. Over confidence is just as off putting as not being confident. When guys tell me they will be the best fuck I'll ever have, it's off putting, and probably bull shit, going off previous experience, but when guys tell you you're too good for them, it seems like they're just trying to butter you up.

I get that too. But if I fancy someone intimidating I tend to go down the "be a bit mean" route with my flirting

It does amaze me on this site, by swinging I accept a more liberal attitude to potential partners, I don’t want to marry them or be there bestie for life and I cut them slack because of it.

Now, atrocious spelling and grammar I find more off putting than a keen person.

All our computers and phones have spell check, no excuse.

In my experience the guys that have been too keen on me have always been the ones I’m not sure of, you know the ones who you’ll chat to whilst looking for the guy who blows your socks off.

I believe their over eagerness or keenness comes from sensing the subconscious vibes you’re giving off that you really aren’t that arsed about them.

Then in a cruel twist, the fates spot this act taking place and think how do you like them bananas? This then transfers onto yourself and when you actually like a guy who appears to be smitten with you at the start but then he himself picks up on the vibes that you really like him and he has you and then that end up turning him off. Doesn’t matter that there’s 100’s of guys who would crawl over broken glass for a chance to lick the sand I’d just pissed on, to that one guy you like you’re just an instant pot noodle.

Someone being too keen sends me running in the opposite direction. Flirty and pushy are two very different things. I love the chemistry when you can tell wanting to meet is mutual, it doesn't have to be said because it's chemistry, the banter is good, there is something there other than sex.

Keeness - is this anything to do with confidence?

I wonder if intimidating is the. Right word. I remember using it once to describe someone’s presence- however I wasn’t afraid of them. So intimidating was the wrong word. Maybe imposing presence would have been better.

To be fair, it's a hard thing to measure if you're a guy on here as even the more reserved of us will undoubtedly come across as overbearing & needy at times. For those who have an abundance of confidence, I can only imagine how hard it is to contain themselves.

If I like another and want to spend time with them then whats the point of playing games about the way I feel.

Seems so often that being open and honest on here, though so many claim that's what they want, is just an exercise in futility that gives others yet another opportunity to run away because of their own demons.

Emotions are a normal part of all of us, sublimating them for whatever reason is far from normal. Yet it so often seems that what so many do on fab.....
