Can anyone explain what the spark is that someone is expecting after spending a few weeks getting turned on by messages and pics?

I met someone after chatting and the other person decided not to take it further as there was no spark?

Is it a female thing?

It's that feeling of wanting to feel their naked body against mine.

If I don't get that feeling I'm not meeting them.

Men might call it something different.

And nope, not a female thing. It’s a universal thing.

It's the chemistry you feel when you meet in person. When you look at them and are imagining undressing them and kissing them all over, to start with x

Yeah it’s like an excited feeling, like when you first meet them you want to jump on their lap like a cat and just paw at them and rub yourself all over them and want to be stroked.

This.

For me, it’s the feeling that the person I’ve been chatting to is the same person I’m meeting.

It's when you kiss them and all you can think about is their kisses carrying on down your body

I’m the same, can chat/message and get quite excited at the prospect of meeting.

Then on the day, nothing! No spark, chemistry, call it what you will, but when it’s not there sex is just perfunctory. No spark - No play

It’s knowing by looking into each other’s eyes that they either want you to rip their clothes off or be slow and sensual

There is a lot of things that you can't experience when you are only speaking to someone online. It's to do with the body language, tone of voice, mannerisms, how they behave, how they smell etc. You can get on great with somebody online, with their online personality, but once you meet them, you can tell you are not attracted to their real-life personality. Ergo- there is no 'spark' in real life.

You'll know it when you experience it. If you aren't sure if you have, then you haven't.

A spark shows some kind of electricity between people, chemistry and such. it’s there even when you try to deny it, and it’s not there sometimes when they wished it was.

It's a physical reaction to someone's presence. Totally subconscious so impossible to articulate or force.

Hiding in the shadows

It's not something I can explain how or why.

It just happens.

Can chat to some people really hit it off in messages but meet & feel nothing, walk away.

Others, it's just an overwhelming urge, it can take one look, a smile & ping!

It's rare, but when it happens it's amazing

In the middle

Many years ago I chatted to a lovely chap, we had great chats on line and his persona was great but when I met him for a coffee I didn’t feel any urge to snog him or fancy him in any way, it was such a shame but that grrrrrrrr feeling just didn’t happen for me.

A good feeling from both sides will become obvious, any doubts then go with your gut feeling

Ohhh I forgot to say no it’s not s female thing, on another site I was pursued by a much younger man, after quite a few months I agreed to meet him, we got 10 yards down the road and he asked me to stop the car because he just couldn’t do it, to be honest I was sooooo relieved

I would call it sexual chemistry.

The problem is that messages on here can be composed at leisure, think of the witty comment, the sexual messages that can turn the other on. When confronted with real life it is not always as easy.

Sex with a spark is like fireworks and popping candy.

Sex with no spark is like a bowl of cold white rice.

That's the difference.

Is it only for the young though? Bit of eye contact then the hormones take over.

Lots of us oldies on the dating sites say ‘looking for the spark ‘ - perhaps it doesn’t exist?

it does, it just takes a little longer to ignite and is maybe more subtle and erotic
