I am currently listening to "The Last Samarai" which is very easy on the ear but brooding by Hans Zimmer

Before that I was listening to "Portrait of a Lady" which is a mixture of classical compositions and original score by Wojciech Kilar

I also like the funky score to R.E.D.

I would also add the spoof score by the Passengers Original Sountracks 1.

What are your favourite original film soundtracks or scores, no jukebox scores or soundtracks containing chart hits please.

Somewhere In The Ether…

Once Upon A Time In The West by the great Ennio Morricone who never failed to deliver a wonderful score.

Also, Basil Poldouris’ score for Conan The Barbarian.

Rousing indeed!

Somewhere In The Ether…

The Deer Hunter score was absolutely beautiful which went some way to equilibrate the decidedly unhappy events in the film itself....

As much as I love the iconic ones, a lot of them are just that, iconic.

Star wars for example it is amazing and iconic. However it does not always have the same emotion of depth to it as Jurassic Park or the Last Samurai for example.

Piero Piccioni's score for L'Impiegato (1959).

Piero Piccioni's score for Fumo di Londra (1966).

Ry Cooder's soundtracks for any of the films he's been involved in but in particular "Paris, Texas", "The Long Riders" and "Southern Comfort"

Mogwai's score for "Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait"

Lose yourself.

There's a beautiful aria in it that I've tried to track down with no success. Suppose I should just by the soundtrack really

Yep, great shout for Ennio Morricine. My faves of his are more spaghetti westerns the theme to The Good, the bad and the ugly, and also For a few dollars more.

Also really like Angelo Badalamenti's stuff for David Lynch's films.

Nothing will replace the first films score but it's the memories that go with it as much as the music itself

Dependant on mood.

Chariots of fire theme

Star wars theme. (Whenever you hear the 20th century fox opening you expect it to start)

633 squadron

Dambusters theme. (I'll admit I well up to that when I think of the sacrifice of the squadron)

From se7en. Bach's orchestral suite no.3 in d major.

And one to make you feel warm inside... the home alone theme!
