Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

We're an island. Why's it so hard to find a tiny holiday cottage by the sea for a few days?

Where would you recommend for early March, not more than 5 hours drive from London? I'm looking for something quirky and comfortable to just look at the sea and be quiet.

North Antrim Coast. Achingly beautiful, and usually no one else there.

I have spent this week in March in Lyme Regis for the last 15 years. The house I love (not mine) has been sold and I feel I should take it as a sign to go elsewhere and break my habits. But, I do love the SW and the coastline.

5 hours from London takes most of Cornwall out, unless you're going to go for it.

So, try around Looe. Portwrinkle is nice

"Croyde in north Devon. A thriving surfy spot in the summer but a quiet bolthole preseason with loads of empty holiday lets.

But you lot put cream on first,

Taint right taint proper, #jam first. "

We have lots of cream on our scones and if the jam goes on first then it all slides off. Just makes sense to do it the right way, the Devon way

"We're an island. Why's it so hard to find a tiny holiday cottage by the sea for a few days?

Where would you recommend for early March, not more than 5 hours drive from London? I'm looking for something quirky and comfortable to just look at the sea and be quiet.

"

Ive got that for a few weeks.

It has loverly sea views right up close,

you can grab a stone and throw it and it will hit the sea.

If you're an animal lover, Spring in the New Forest is lovely. It's the time of year the babes are born - foals, both horse and donkey, on wobbly legs with flicky little tails and gorgeous little calves who chase each other around. Plus, all the wildflowers start to show and the birds come back. There are touristy parts, wild parts, witches villages and right on the coast, a mile and a bit from The Isle of Wight.

Lanarkshire

Shetland, The Faroes or even Fair Isle are your best bet.

Orkney has always been a bit too close to London and the sarf for my liking. Attracts the wrong kind of people.

My original plan to deal with my change of location was to go abroad but I've been having odd anxiety attacks do decided it was safer to stay in the UK.

If I had someone to go away with I might have made a different decision.

Sheffield

Get a flight to Scotland... The far north.

There's lovley places out that way around Aberdeen/Inverness... and is super quiet, you hear the silence, the air smells like difference between tap water and Evian, inky inky inky black sky at night.

You'd be there in under 5 hours and £30quid on a plane from london.

Seahouses, in Northumberland.

Plenty to see there.

"

I recommend Seahouses also, plenty of lovely cottages and holidays homes... and a lovely (walk for miles) beach.

Nah, it’s amazing - the power of nature is awesome.

I’m biased, but I vote for Pembrokeshire. It’s a very beautiful area. There’s gorgeous beaches and a real sense of being at one with nature in that area.

The Gower is great too. Rhosilli is one of the most beautiful beaches anywhere in the world imo.

Both can be done within five hours from

London.
