Brockmans with Tonic, ice and a sliver of Grapefruit peel. Or my own home made Damson Gin, I haven’t made any for a while though.

If anyone gets the chance go to the Evil Eye bar in York. More Gins than you can shake a hairy stick at, the bar staff really know what they’re doing and will knock you up a great Gin or cocktail to suit your tastes.

My current favourite is La Republica from craft gin club. It featured in January’s gin box from them. They sourced and imported limited amounts and it’s not available to buy anywhere else in the UK. It comes from Bolivia and has some very unusual botanicals in it, I’ve never tasted anything remotely similar. I would go so far as to say it’s the best gin I’ve ever had!

My ginventory is getting rather huge now, I’m spoiled for choice. I like my gin served with tonic but I’m not averse to a cocktail made with it too

I seem to have got a bit obsessed with gin recently... Seem to have far too many.

Gin Mare fave supermarket one followed my Malfy Rosa

Tarquins Sea Dog is always in my cupboard.

La Republican from Bolivia (just launching in U.K.) my latest find

Make sure you use giant ice cubes!

Hmm

Worth keeping an eye out for offers. Oddly it worked out that buying a gift package for myself was cheaper - just use a different email address.

Stop all this nonsense! A G&T used to be such an easy drink to order.

“a G&T please, ice and a slice “. Quick to make - dispense so considerate to others waiting to be served. Now:-

“What gin would you like “? Fucking millions now to look at.

“Schweppes or Fever Tree”?

“What flavour “?

“Regular or slim line”?

“Lemon, lime, cu fucking cumber”?

“Ice, fresh or frozen”?

Yep, thanks x Tends to often be the same few places, so was looking for others, especially a good physical shop. I also wish the app was a little better too, but that's another story!

Amazon throws up the occasional gem - got four during Black Friday (including Anno, 60% proof!!) at an average of 40% off. Just harder to browse what's on offer - camelcamel lets you watch specific ones though.

I love the range from Malfy, an Italian producer.

For those that like Silent Pool, see if you can get Hidden Curiousites. It's made by a lovely girl in their distillery and the bottle is amazing.

Drinking at home? Make ice cubes with tonic or lime cordial. Doesn't water your gin down too much then.

"I’ve joined the gin club! So I’ll keep you all posted! We should start a fab gin club!

First rule of Gin Club, don't forget Fever Tree

It’s no good for dieters though

Isn't there a light version? Of the tonic, not the gin.

Yes but still 4 syns for a small bottle (on slimming world). When you can only have 15 syns a day I’d rather change my brand of tonic & have more gin "

Fever tree to a light tonic in the cans.

I’ve just checked & 4 syns is for a 500ml bottle!! Not the small bottle!! Doing a little happy dance!!

"Oooh I love gin

My homemade is the best though

You make it?! "

It's quite simple. Most gin is "built" on a base neutral alcohol and then flavoured. John Lewis do a kit (others are available but dahlink, I wouldn't be seen anywhere else ) - just need very cheap vodka (ironic juxtaposition ...) to make.

Distilling is very different and what I'm debating about doing next. But lots of rules and laws around it, so have to be careful!

"Oooh I love gin

I did in the summer, made rhubarb gin.

You get a cheap gin, castor sugar and rhubarb and leave it for a few months. It tasted ok "

I made loads of rhubarb gin last year, it never lasted long

I’ve just started a Seville orange gin, I found the recipe online. Unfortunately, citrus gins can’t be rushed and take 3 years to mature!

"Stop all this nonsense!

Anyway, I make a better one at home. Proper measure as well. None of this ‘sixth of a gill’ nonsense!"

true!

I’ve bought some new ones today after going to a tasting - a bottle from Shire gin (a new company based near Shrewsbury) and some miniatures of Tiger gin, Sharish Blue Magic & McQueen chilli gin

Scarlett has Whitley Neil Gin (not the flavoured one) with Fevertree Tonic. Grapefruit sliced and rubbed around inside a big glass, plenty of ice then plop the sliced grapefruit in.

She’s a happy girl
