WORCESTERSHIRE

i was watching this programme on bbc this morning about benefit frauadsters,it showed about the teams of detectives watching for fraudsters and scams and showed the case of a lithuanian couple and friend who had defrauded the state(our state here in uk)of millions of pounds in benefits!.

the couple ricardo virakitis & his wife jolena virakitis with their accomplice mamtis puras brought over families from lithuania to firstly put the claims in at various benefit offices in london claiming for their families (with plenty of kids of course!),the family when the claims were sorted were packed off back to lithuania having had a nice holiday in london and the fraudsters would then buy all the families paperwork from them in order to carry on the scams!.

when they were eventually taken to court and then sentenced to jail,it turned out that they had been using 7 or 8 families names to pull off the fraud over a 3 year period and had netted a cool 3 million pounds!,money which could/should have been used for more deserving & honest claimants!.

i wonder how many more frauds like this our eastern european friends are pulling on throughout the country?,and before our resident lefties on the forum start shouting about the sun,the mail, the telegraph etc this was from their very own bbcthe leftwingers own tv station.

I feel your anger. No British person has ever gone abroad and commited a crime. Ever. In the same way no British person has ever defrauded the tax payer in this country.

A £3million pund benefit fraud is abhorent. The nationality of those involved is pretty much meaningless.

Bloody Lithuanians, they put our home grown fraudsters to shame.

We must do better

Torquay

I'm more concerned at the amount of people who seem to have all the time in the world to watch daytime television...

Surely a job would be more satisfying?

Depends what job you are doing. Do you really believe there are enough jobs for everyone in this country.

You might have noticed I have been posting my own little "controversial" thread about the Big Issue. What you have highlighted here is indeed infuriating but as a self-proclaimed "leftie" myself I would also add into the mix another way of robbing £3m from the exchequer.

If you are rich enough to be able to afford to buy a house / apartment in London for ooh, let's say £20m by setting up an offshore company and buying the property through that as a business purchase you can pay less stamp duty than a couple buying their first home for £125K.

In Cornwall Terrace in North London, where the average asking price is £35 million, every single home has been transferred to a company on the Isle of Man.

As I said in my thread, the biggest scroungers are very rich but cases like the one you highlight are no less infuriating.

O o O oo

I have sky + that programme and on on of them I watched 3 british people getting done for massive fraud...it happens to lots of people.

There are so many threads about " foreigners" lately it is really looking nasty and dark undertones ( if thats the right word) on here.

Time to shut I think.
