my mates kid has been emailed saying pay money or she will release vids of him to family and friends, then promptly put them on Facebook and other media sites.

I've gone all stalker on it and clearly a catfish/camgirl judging on when he said he did this and looking for this person online.

police have been called but can't see them doping anything.

any thing else we can try?

Its a arrestable offence...if police have been called they should go talk to person /s ..and they will say its a arrestable offence..plus its bmail..extorting money. Let old bill deal with it..

There's nothing the police can do about these scams, as they are (99.9% of the time) operates from outside the UK.

The advise I normally give is to change the fb privacy settings so that no one can see their friends list (or disable the account entirely), then block the offender.

The scammers have no real intention of posting anything, what they want is the money, so try not to worry about anything, and under no circumstance pay them anything.

How old is the kid if theyre under 18 and the pics/vid are naked then its legally child porn and the police will take it very seriously .

But more than likley the person wont be in the uk so not much to be done.

Delete facebook or ride it out.

How old is the kid if theyre under 18 and the pics/vid are naked then its legally child porn and the police will take it very seriously .

But more than likley the person wont be in the uk so not much to be done.

Delete facebook or ride it out.

the kid is 19. and who ever it is, she did put the vids on facebook. they have been removed.

I received a very similar email basically saying they had video evidence of me rubbing my cock on cam, proof if anything that scammers do not do their research. I rode it out and if anything has been sent to my family and friends they are being unusually quiet about it.

I think a great deal of the time they are outside UK jurisdiction and they are just trying their luck.

If it was asking to get paid in bitcoin and knew his password, it's from a hacked websites database, probably linked in. I got one a few months ago and pissed myself laughing.

Take a look on the 'Action Fraud' website, or the National Crime Agency's website and search for sextortion. There is advice there for who to report it to, and what you should and should not do in the meantime.

Chances are it's fake.

There's a VERY clever scam going around where the perp sends convincing details about you, saying they've got vids of you and dodgy internet history and they'll release it unless you pay them £xxx.

The amount varies and our IT okay a game like top trumps - who's got to pay the most.

Probably nothing to worry about.

I got one a few months ago say they have screen shots of my lap top from the cam, and my internet history plus videos but never showed any of it on mentioned a old password from years ago from a different laptop. So don't worry it probably just a fake

If they had anything their would have shown you before asking for money so don't worry about it

He has to lean into now. Make a joke of it if people bring it up laugh it off.

If they try to mock him theyve seen it come back with "yeah i bet you cant stop watching it" etx.

If he doesnt he'll get eaten alive and bullied. If he embraces it then hes just a lad with an epic tale of getting off with a fit camgirl like all his mates wish they had the balls too
