Tragic that we were granted free will and a greater level of intelligence and this is what some choose to do with it

I agree OP! I don’t think people actually understand the implications of a stabbing. Literally snuffing out a life. It’s incomprehensible to me how little value or how few fucks some people give when stabbing with intent.

Trouble is the punishment isn’t severe enough. No deterrent but it does make me fear for our futures and our kids futures. I can’t begin to imagine what it’ll be like in 20 to 30 years time.

I agree. When I was young, news was filtered and controlled by journalists, and delivered once a day.

Now everyone is a journalist and camera operator. There is is no professional filtet or control, other than the choices each person makes on their news feed on social media.

I do not believe society is any better or worse. What’s changed is how we receive information - and misinformation.

There's a certain faction within our society - the 'Innit Bruv' brigade - who view gang culture as a symbol of status and hierarchy.

It's a warped world we live in.

I think it’s also to do with there is no proper punishment system in place so people do what they want.

I wonder if capital punishment was brought back would people think twice before doing these evil acts? Yes I know that’s another debate but thought I would just throw it in there....

I don't think the threat of CP would work with today's criminals - it's just too far removed from their awareness. I would rather see longer, harsher sentences followed by rehabilitation. Or banishment to Somalia for the worst offenders.

The idea that there was a Golden Age when human life was valued and people were not cruel and heartless is a myth I'm afraid. Humans particularly the poor and vulnerable are used pieces of spent trash to many.

My Mum's parents died of TB in the 1930s (her dad had been gassed in the 1st World War and his lungs wrecked). It was a disease of the poor back in the 20s and 30s before the NHS. The only thing that saved the poor from disease & slum landlords was the building of Council Housing from the 1930s on and the NHS. Council Housing went with Thatcher and the NHS is being dismantled by the Tories. We're left with homelessness, slum landlords, rack rents and Grenfell.

As for the scum who'd pour petrol on a homeless vagrant? David Cameron (pig fucker), Clegg, Boris and the Bullingdon Boys Club would assault and insult the Poor, any working people serving them and burn £50 notes in front of a homeless person. It was your threshold for becoming a member of the Bullingdon Club. If THEY are the people who rule you then THAT is the Society they create... so what surprise other scum learn from the likes of Cameron, Clegg and Boris Johnson.

May they rot in Hell.

The hatred comes from ONE Ideological direction. It is not the sick who are dismantling the NHS. It is not the homeless or poor who destroyed, sold off and dismantled the Council Housing stock in this country. It was the Tories who hated what it represented... a way out of slum landlords clutches.

If the Tories could put a cash collection gate on the way into hospitals they would... oh yeah they have. They charge you to park. Now there's a Golden Goose Contract.

I have no hatred for anyone. But when Boris and Clegg and Cameron burned £50 notes in front of poor people sleeping on the streets... I think those Bullingdon Boys were showing pure hatred. May they rot in the same Hell that they created for others.

I live in a city where they used to mount people's heads on spikes on the city walls or hang them in gibbets so the public could watch them rot, as someone said above there has sadly never been a golden age where society didn't contain nasty people who enjoy carrying out violence on others. You just hear more about it now with 24 hour rolling news.

There was rarely stabbings or shootings

It's every other day at the minute .

The problem is the punishment .

I think some people aren't capable of facing reality therefore they imagine when life had worth and People were noble.

The reality is we've always been brutal but hundreds of years of social progression can easily be undone, society is no different than an eco system, it's finally balanced and one or two things astray can send it spiralling into catastrophe and lifelessness.

"The bad stuff always makes the news, the good stuff doesn't always."

Agree.

Also news doesn't just fall into the papers or news feeds by accident, the stories you read are picked and positioned for maximum impact.

Why does one missing child story make the news but the other 112,000 yearly in the UK not (and I've rounded that figure down)

Why does one murder make the news but the 139 women killed in domestic violence cases in 2018 not?

Why aren't the 7000plus deaths yearly directly attributed to alcohol news while obesity is?

Why aren't all the good things that happen in your community, your country, the world given as much daily coverage as the bad?

We are manipulated by the media on a daily basis.

The main aim is to keep the public fearful, to keep us divided, and ultimately to keep us in our place.
