Pretty sure you can set the timer to 10 seconds

Whatever camera you buy you'll still have to hold it so I wouldn't say that's a solution

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

Honestly, propping it up can be done with hundreds of household items - bookends, for example - and 3 seconds is plenty, although it can take a few attempts to get into position.

Keep at it.

You can also use voice control to take a picture remotely

A timer will do the trick, depends on the phone that you have

I found a cheap eBay selfy stick/tripod with blue tooth remote a good call. Maybe it's about time I start using it and get some new photos up.

I use a Samsung A5

It has voice control so i just prop the phone up somewhere, change the camera to front facing, strike my pose and say 'smile!' And the pic is taken

eBay will flog you a mini tripod and a Bluetooth remote shutter. It’s a little button you link to your phone.

You can get a phone/tablet holder that fits on a camera tripod now... it's great... going to try it to take some better photos... just got to find one of those filters to make me look 25 and gorgeous now

I got a mini phone tripod and bluetooth remote control. Really easy to use. Also can use the better phone cam rather than the face cam. Most of my photos were taken using that or propped up with the 10 second timer.

No I've got a Samsung galaxy edge 7 & it's in the phone camera setting, same as timer mode. Shout "shoot" or "cheese" & it takes a photo.

That must be awkward if you're out shopping and get overly excited by a good deal on some gorgonzola..

I've often had some difficulty trying to get a timer to work.

I tend to shoot a short video clip - then use editing software to take a still from the clip

Strategically placed mirror(s) and /or using the self facing mode. And like those above say, timer is good x

I did exactly that last summer, was taking pics in the bedroom and kept saying "smile" over and over and only realised afterwards the window was open so anyone passing would have heard this loon shouting it repeatedly!!

The voice activation feature is brilliant as it means you can pose before taking the pic and without having to make that dash to beat the timer - only thing is it's not that sensitive so you do end up having to shout "smile", "cheese" or whatever rather a lot!!

A timer or a full size wall mirror comes to mind though getting a friend to take them is the best option by far.

Selfie sticks are amazing if you can’t get anyone to take your pics.

I do love cheese, knowing my neighbours they probably think I'm getting over excited about my online food shop...

If using an iPhone, connect the earphones and use them as a wired remote.

Fgs! There's enough "photographers" on fab- ask one of them!

Or use the timer. I find a trainer good for propping the phone up!

Bristol East

The cameras I’ve used over the years come with a variety of time delays - my current one has 2 seconds and 12 seconds, I think.

Depends what you are shooting of course, but for a full-length shot I try to find a ledge at head-height or higher, set down the camera and give myself 10 seconds.

For camera phones, some of the selfie sticks also convert to tripods.

Press the shutter button on your phone and then hurl it away from you.

If you do it quickly enough you’ll get an awesome photo from a good distance from you
