Got up 4 am this morning

My car has an emmissions additive called ad blu

Diesel goes in usual place

Ad blue goes in separate filler cap next to diesel cap

Was tired and cold .I put the ad blue into the diesel filler .

Car wouldn't start

Tank needs draining

Been waiting 3 hours for AA to tow me to garage .

Simple job I'm told drain tank flush and fill with diesel but I bet it's gonna cost a few quid

Anyone else experienced this ???

I've put petrol in a diesel once. Only about a tenner before I realised. That was an early start so was tired...

"Err..what is add blue? "

It's a fuel additive that bring the emissions of a diesel car down to the new regulations if your car is fitted with it you have to use if it runs out it'll stop

If you didn't start the car you should be fine.

You will have to get it drained but shouldn't do to much damage if the tank already had diesel in it.

Does the fuel filler have an anti syphon device fired to it?

If not the tank could sucked empty through the fuel filler.

It won't stop. It will continue to run. It would only stop if the system is programmed to stop the vehicle if the tank is empty.

Easily passable through a CAN link.

People think Adblue is a Diesel adative..it's not..the Adblue goes into SCR system in the vehicle exhaust and therefore is dispensed into a completely different tank to the diesel..Unfortunately you will have to have your fuel system completely drained and flushed..otherwise the Adblue will damage parts in your fuel system and engine..it is very corrosive..

Hope you get it sorted and does not work out too expensive for you

I tried to start it but it wouldn't

It's 18 plate done 18.000 miles only .

I'm hoping as a modern car the in line filters have stopped the ad blue gking anywhere .

I'm hoping and thinking that's why it wouldn't start as sensors kicked in to stop me starting it .

Contaminated fuel now as well which has to be disposed of correctly

It's at the garage now .

I'm guessing 2 hours labour plus new filters

Probably be 3 or 400 quid.

Can't see it being any cheaper

5am this morning I did it and only just home in a taxi ..stressed n depressed .

I hope it's all behind you really quickly and it doesn't dent your pocket too deeply

don't want to rain on your parade, but someone done this to a company vehicle where i work, 2 months later, the engine blew, was told it was the after effect of adblue being put in the fuel tank, they don't seem to last long we were told. hope you're one of the lucky ones op
