Where is the art of letter writing?

Ok, so I use the form of sending a message like a letter. How do people expect to get a positive response when all they send a 4 or 5 word message for example: 'Do you guys meet' or ' Hi, what you been up to'

How can people expect us to determine if we're compatible when they dont give us anything to determine with?? Even when we respond with a message asking questions to generate response....yes you guessed it a 5 word response comes back! Grrrrrr!!!!.

Some one liners are OK. I had one which said "My panda doubles as a hot water bottle"

I was on all fours infront of him a few days later.

"I get... Fancy a chat? Does my head in!"

I would be so tempted to reply

"Yes"

If they follow up then I may send

"Not with you!"

I avoid one line messages, and still no meet.

I usually send a winking smiley.

Weve had 'look at us' and an attached pic. That was the whole message

Remember, no one owes you a reply to a message.

So 5 words is five more than you should expect to receive!

Rock and a hard place often though is'nt it?

Often send introductory, informative messages and do a check while later to see its been clinically deleted, yes indeed nobody "has to" anything, neither read it or reply, but its often enough to make a person prune the info/message.

I always try to give a nice introduction and find out a little more about the people I message but its certainly no match on war and peace.. one liners arent good.. but how long does a message need to be before its suitable?

Not to come the winging bloke.......but.......

Imagine that you write a well crafted message drawing information from a profile, trying to put a flavor of yourself across to the person you are interested in.......doing this individually for whatever the number of interesting people you would like to meet (lets say I used to write up to 50 messages a week) and after spending 10 - 15 minutes thinking about and writing each message, spell checking it and then pop and sending it and it gets deleted without reply......how frustrating that would be?

As a result, not wanting to send 1000 one word or one line cut and paste messages every week I rarely bother to message now, concentrating on the occasional forum post and on people I meet in chat.

No one can expect to get a response from a message, but you can hardly expect the highest standards of literacy from people who mail you if, (and this last point is not addressed to anyone in particular) when you receive a mail of this standard you then ignore it on the basis that you MAY get abuse.....

You pays your money and you takes your choice, boys n girls.

You just cant help but smile at how so many people get so wound up about messaging one an other.

So many people want it so many different ways and have so many different rules Im surprised people bother.

Taking the last few weeks of forum posts we have:

*Dont want one liners

*Want cock shots and face pics

*Hate Cock Shots

*No pics on first message

*Would prefer to send face pics when had a response

*Chatting on mail is like pulling hens teeth

*We get too many messages

*Single Guys wont learn

*Why should I write a decent message no one messages back

*I just bulk delete messages

*No one owes you a reply

*I just get deleted so why bother writing anything long

*Hate Cut and Paste Messages

*Just use cut and paste messages as in intro as just keep getting deleted

...and they are just the ones I can remember!!

In some respects yes, but I get the feeling that with different rules and criteria used by so many that it can be counter-productive - letting the wheat slip through and even turning the wheat into chaff
