"Yes I have taken mesaurments and I know because of the dress/clothing size but my doc still says I'm obese" FTR I hit the very top of the obese line on my Dr's chart. I would have to lose 3st to fall into the 'healthy' range on it!

"As I tell all my clients Do not focus on weight. Body composition is what counts Get yourself measured on a body scanner, use a tape measure, arms, chest, waist, hips, top of thighs, above knees, calves. Take photos (in undies) same day every month. You can drop body fat, drop several dress sizes but your weight may not show a significant loss x" Thank you for that advice. Don't get me wrong i love being big and beautiful but itd frustrating that scales remain the same

"Focus on how you feel. Does the fitness make you feel better? " That works for me. I just feel happier in myself when I’m exercising regularly, and worry less about ‘results’.

"A pound of fat doesn't weigh anymore than a pound of muscle. I got to the same stage as you, nothing coming off the scales but losing a dress size more. Sadly Doctors and the like go by scales " Yes they do. And it royally pisses me off! I take GP referrals, specialise in obesity. I recently had one client in tears after her monthly check at the Drs. She didn't see her usual GP as was on annual leave. The one she saw was so rude to her, told her she was wasting her time & money seeing me, as she's only lost a stone in 8wks. He point blank refused to look at her stat sheets. She may have only lost a stone, but she's lost 17% body fat, 37" overall & dropped 3 dress sizes! Yes, I wrote a complaint!

"Blimey, a stone in 8 weeks is about normal anyway? How much did he want her to lose? But that's the problem with only taking note of the scales. You would think Doctors would use all the stats instead" I would never recommend loosing more than 2lbs a week max. Rapid weight loss can have other side effects. She needs to lose 6st according to NHS guidelines , she's diabetic, needs surgery I know the GP I take a lot of referrals from her. We have agreed a plan, and she also appreciates & understands body comp. So the aim is 3st in weight & 26% body fat. This other gp basically told her the usual line. Eat less move more. When someone has serious health, diet & mobility issues that isn't easy & requires qualified support. This lady could do that, crash diet, do unsuitable excercises & cause herself harm in the process. That is one of the things I put in my complaint
