Obscene calls

I've started receiving dirty calls from a withheld number recently.

Heavy breathing, asking what I'm wearing etc, I just hang up. It's not upsetting me, it's just more a nuisance because I'm having to answer because I'm waiting on a call from the hospital which I've been told will be from a withheld number.

I'm guessing this doesn't happen as often as years ago, but has anyone else had this happen and how did you deal with it?

I've read that police can find out numbers even though they're withheld? I don't want to change my number.

(Post to thread only please)

I would speak to the Police. Although you may be mentally equipped to shrug it off, their next victim may not be. It can't be very ni e for you, but it could be the finalmdtraw for someone else.

I personally think you should at least try to have the perpetrator caught.

Just my tuppence worth

Agree with that. Even if they can’t do anything at least they are aware of the creepy idiot. It must be horrible and annoying too

Oh yes I am doing that, all I've said on the phone is hello, hello, hello, how do they know it's not a minor they're talking to? It's sick. I just hope the police can help.

And you'd have a recording of his voice to hand over

It’s a good idea in theory, you take the chance of them retaliating and doing it to you. Police is the way here.

I've had loads of missed unknown number calls at all hours of the night too, that never left a message, I think it could be the same person.

But of course that's a great idea if it ever happens

You can block withheld numbers on your phone. But if your friends use withheld numbers they wont get through either.

also a good way for them to use there normal number to ring through.

id rather block withheld numbers than halve to listen to that crap on an answering machine.

My doctor's surgery and the hospitals use withheld numbers and I'm currently waiting on a call from them sometime soon.

Oh wow that's bad!!

I think the best thing is for me to just ignore withheld numbers and any genuine ones will leave a message. The person doing this will soon lose interest.
