hey guys n gals can any of you help me?

have you had gallstones?

did you get acid reflux at the same time?

did the acid reflux go away when your gallbalader was removed?

i;ve been diagnosed wih gallstones and the pain is attrocious bit i also have been having awful acid reflux which causes an equally attrocious pain now a friend of mine told me she had the same problem and it went once her gallblader was removed and i'm getting my hopes up that mine will go too but there is still a huge part of me that is extremely worried it will stick around so i thought i would ask my fellow fabsters if any of you have experienced the same, did it go or are you still stuck with it?

sitting here with fingers crossed yours went

Not able to fully answer your question, sorry, but a home remedy for acid is half a teaspoon of bicarb of soda in a cup of water- it makes you burp but it does work!

I understand the removal of the gall bladder does reduce the amount of acid reflux. However you will have to be careful of the sort of food you eat afterwards.....very rich, greasy food will cause you problems although they will give you some medication which will help. Two of my friends have had the op in recent years and both have far less problems now

I may well be able to answer some of those questions....

yes i had gallstones which was what put me in hospital... and i did get acid reflux, but only when eating certain food at night....

so until i had my op I did switch from eating certain foods.... Spicy curries, and red meat were the things that really set it off....

basically a lot of "fatty" foods went out the window.. and i was eating dinner at a decent time rather than when i got home from work after the late night shift....

so when from beef to chicken for example and to eating dinner at a decent time, small things like chocolate to fruit pastiles....

so after i had my gall bladder out,yes it did go away, but i did change a lot of what i eat.... and now am a lot more sensible than i was......

thankyou hun but already doing all of that i reassesed my diet 17 months ago and sorted it all out so it was quite ironic that after doing so all my problems started bloody typical tis just the sort of luck i have

i have read somewhere that gallstones can occasionally be linked to rapid weight loss and considering how fast the first 4 stone came off might be right in my case again bloody typical

i will still carry on with my current diet after op though for sure oddly enough i'm actually enjoying eating healthier and i never thought i'd see the day i said that

Turn left at the Singing Ringing Tree

I had my gall bladder removed in October last year. Was diagnosed with a Hiatus Hernia a couple of years ago and then with the stress of divorce etc it caused the gall bladder to join in and produce gall stones. Guaranteed six hours of pure pain, can see why some people dial 999 and think they are having a heart attack.

Was done as a day surgery, went in, had the op and as soon as I had eaten food (toast) and visited the little girls' room with no problems, was discharged and came home. Believe them when they say you won't be able to lift a kettle and take it easy.

When the consultant asked me if I had any questions, I decided to ask the obvious ..... when could I have sex again. lol, brightened up his day.

I met 6 other people at a large house party who had all had their gall bladders removed recently! Some had had side affects, but ..... touch wood ....... I haven't had any problems since.

Lisburn

I got my gallbladder removed 20 years ago now, I 1st took it when I had my 1st daughter and was due to get it removed when I found out I was pregnant again with my 2nd daughter. I had to endure the pain all the way through my pregnancy (which was hell) So I cant be sure if the acid reflux was to do with pregnancy or the gall stones.

With me certain foods set it of, anything spicy or greasy, even cheese would of set it.

About 2 years after I had it removed I then was diagnosed with a Hiatus Hernia.

I feel for you as I used to think I was dying when the pain hit, and couldn't bear any clothing on me what so ever, used to be crawling around the house in the buff

Hope you get sorted soon xxxx

They`ve found out I too have a Hiatus Hernia but I was told that there is not operation to cure it. I`m prescribed Omeprazole capsules to control the acid reflux. I still ahve to watch what I eat and more so when I eat it.

I got my gall bladder taken out in Dec 09 after having a gall bladder infection six months previous. Already diagnosed with hiatus hernia. Still have the acid reflux.

The amount of people on this thread who seem to have both seems a fair few.

If having gallstones is anything like having a kidney stone, then i know what evil pain that is like.

I was in and out of hospital with severe pain for years on and off they thought it was goll stones they took my gallbladder out and no signs eventually they found it was hireditary pancreitis very painful indeed. Was annoyed they took my gallbladder out for no reason. Lol a friend has suffered with gallstones she could barley walk and had her gallbladder out.
