Farewell Windsor Davies. You will be sadly missed and will always remembered for your roles in TV and film like It Ain't Half Hot Mum, Terrahawks and Carry On Behind.

This was weird. It was only this week that I was explaining to an American friend that Windsor Davies was pretty much the archetypical British sargeant-major (in much the same way R. Lee Ermey was for American Sargeants). As part of this I'd looked up his Wikipedia page and was delighted to note he was still alive. That, sadly, didn't last long.

I met Windsor Davies for a couple of pints in the Saracens head in Hereford

He was an old friend of a chap I used to work with

I have to say a really nice guy
