As long as he faces the same age-related driving checks as every other 97 year old then yes. If his position means that he’s exempt from such checks then no.

I would say that yes it is .

Even a healthy 97 year old isn’t going to have reflexes , and a sharp enough mind to hand/ foot coordination , to drive safely .

I would make it mandatory to retest every year after 80 , and simply not allow anyone over 90 to drive as it’s too dangerous for others with them in the road .

As with all of these things, it depends on the person.

My Dad's 81, just purchased an electric car and as fit as anything.

However, there are some people a heck of a lot younger who shouldn't be on the roads because they are dangerous.

The road that Prince Phillip had the accident on is not nice, there are always accidents on it - they just aren't national news!

That's not true, they were both on a road and neither on a drive way (look at the press photos) no one has been blamed yet, or nor has it been said who hit who, so you can't just say its his fault lol

There are licenced racing drivers in their 90s. Britain's oldest road driver is 101.

And there's my mum who has been a danger to other drivers since 1964.

It's not simply age.

Age related driving checks? What are those, other than the form you self certify yourself as fit?
