Sounds rubbish.

Is it the original cast making " jokes " about how old they are

Well Harold Ramis is dead and the others are almost dead - Bill Murray looks like a pile of dust about to float away at any moment - so probably not.

Why every time I read 2020 it’s like 5 years away?...

From what I've read, it is a new chapter to the original movies set in present day and Jason Reitman is directing.

It can't be the original cast Harold ramis died in 2014, unless they're busting him but apparently his son is directing it!

"From what I've read, it is a new chapter to the original movies set in present day and Jason Reitman is directing."

Yes.

I read that on a thread about exactly the same subject less than an hour ago.

It’s great to have it confirmed again though.

Bill Murray never wanted to do a third unless it was a good story.

The rest of the cast are still alive.

Well he starred in the recent travesty so his word means fuck all. Chuck enough cash at him i'm sure he'd spend the last few months of his life on it.

Except for Harold Ramis of course.

Mind you, might be pretty spectacular if they could manage to actually get him to 'appear' in the film - what with him being dead and everything

When it comes to Harold Ramis, I doubt that they'll do what they did with Peter Cushing in Rogue One.

hope not, that ruined the movie for me, I get he had to appear but id have been happier if some one else played the character instead of CGIing cushing, anyways, im pretty hyped up and looking forward to this one, i think lesson will have been learnt by how bad the second movie was and how wrong the reboot was, so, darker and a little humour will work for me

From what I've read so far, the main characters will be four teens which are two boys and two girls. It's said they move to a small town where they learn about who they are.

This could indicate that they are children of the original Ghostbusters.

Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson confirmed there will be a Ghostbusters 3 and shared the teaser on twitter.

I'm sure the original cast will be in the movie as mentors to the new recruits like how Rocky was mentor to Adonis Creed.

Surely Ramis being dead lends himself to being a ghost?

that would be just wrong, and i’m hoping they don’t even go there with it.

Nope. It's a sequel to the original Ghostbusters movies.

Falkirk

It 50/50. It will absolutely capture what the first two movies had and continue it on OR crash like the female reboot.

Me personally I think its to close to the reboot so the majority of assumptions will be based on that.

Anyone who played the ghostbusters game that was released in console may have accepted that that was number 3. It was voiced by original sctors from the first two films to where they could, and even Dan Akrydd who’s accepted that he wanted to do a 3rd but believed it would never happen thought a video game direction was the way to go to conclude the story. And it was a good medium done well ( my opinion).

Do I need a new Ghostbusters 3 after playing that game ?......hell yes! Especially after the last one with them girls in it.

Indeed. I reckon it will be a passing the torch type of film like the Creed movies with the original Ghostbusters cast mentoring their teenage grandchildren.

They managed it in Rogue One with Peter Cushing so anything is possible.

Looked awful, they should have recast. But I would imagine, it would be his characters kid that set the adventure off.

I don't think it would have been something he'd have objected to. The cgi/effects of the ghosts tends to be cartoony anyway so probably wouldn't need such a "realistic" peter cushing like rendering.

North Bucks

Bill Murray stole the show in Zombieland.

Looking forward to it.

I doubt Ramis or his family would mind a little ghost cameo done with taste and respect.

How about a compromise? A ghost version of Egon from The Real Ghostbusters

Some more news on the matter. Ernie Hudson has confirmed recently that he, Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray are all on board to do this upcoming sequel.

I'll look forward to seeing them reprise their roles for this movie. It will be interesting to see where this new chapter goes.

Just thought I'd bump this thread to confirm that the remaining original cast (Sigourney Weaver, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hutton) are reprising their roles for the third Ghostbusters installment.

This should be very interesting.
