"Does anyone know any good methods to reduce tinnitus volume " Get your hearing tested. If you need hearing aids, they will help reduce it when worn. Other than that relaxation and distraction. If it is really loud or new, see your doctor. Nita

"I recently was given a sound speaker that I have on at night beside my bed as tinnitus can keep me from sleeping. Basically you can select sounds like waves/crickets/heartbeat at the same volume as your tinnitus. There are a couple of apps similar you can get on your phone and you can set them on timers. " OK thanks I will have a look for them

"... The best advice she gave, which worked on me but not on everyone, was to accept it and not to fight it. The sooner you accept it the sooner you can learn to live with it just being there. Mostly, I don’t notice it now. " I find that this works for me too 99% of the time. Nita

"I attended a course that demonstrated techniques to help me cope with my tinnitus when it first started. Whilst I was on that course there was a man that attempted suicide because he couldn’t cope with the noise. It’s certainly not to be taken lightly. There was discussion around white noise, not sitting in total silence, gadgets available to distract you from the noise etc. There was also relaxation and distraction techniques. Distraction was a winner for me. The best advice she gave, which worked on me but not on everyone, was to accept it and not to fight it. The sooner you accept it the sooner you can learn to live with it just being there. Mostly, I don’t notice it now. " I know how they must of felt it does get you down with high volume for sure not easy

"Get to the doctor's, it's not just a result of ear damage it can be a sign of an underlying issue such as high blood pressure. I suffer from it badly a result of working in building trade, also working at Heathrow airport next to the runways, loud music and a really bad ear infection about 2years ago which resulted in my rh ear drum busting. Combined with high blood pressure sometimes I can't hear jack shit." Yea mine came from working in the steel industry always around noise

"It can be related to conditions that are treatable or where you can at least improve the problem. I have menieres disease... Nita " I have MD too and find my tinnitus comes and goes. It gets worse when I'm stressed, which in turn makes me more stressed. This week it's a high pitched whistle. Low level background noise can distract me and listening to YouTube relaxation videos helps me get to sleep at night J

"1) Avoid very loud noises, particularly discos 2) Distraction works well for me 3) Treat it as a friend, a useful tool. My tinnitus tells me when I am getting over-tired, and is a great early warning system against any illness. If it gets loud then I take notice and act accordingly!" ![]()

When i go to bed i put the sound of waves crashing onto a beach on my tablet and during the day i sit in my kitchen. Next to the fridge freezer ! ![]() ![]() This is exactly mine too. It got worse when I had the flu. Someone suggested having a music on really really low so your ears focused on it. I did try it and it seemed to work. We also swapped bedrooms so I could hear the steam outside and that did help me.
