I decided this year to read more, switch off the tv, spend less time on social media and escape with books. Would be good to chat about what you're reading, give recommendations and create a list of what you've read. My friend used to do a 50 books a year challenge but I think that's too much so I'm setting myself a target of 25.

Currently read so far

1 The Sense Of An Ending by Julian Barnes

Dark look on life and how it permeates through the years. A self reflective man looks at life as a sixth former to the latter days of his life and how his life crosses paths with people in his past. This book makes you reflect on your own life and prompts you to not have regrets. Recommended

Now onto

Notes On a Scandal by Zoe Heller

Hi there I like this kind of thing.

I'm currently reading Tombland by CJ Sansom it's a historical thriller set in Tudor times.

After that I've got the latest Bernard Cornwell to read called War of the Wolf which is another historical Novel set in the Viking times.

My mind has gone on full on dementia levels of broken so I can't read anymore. I have about 40 unread books on my shelf n all.

I have Les Miserables half finished somewhere, that took me 6 months ha.

Currently it Stephen King's The Wastelands, part three of his Dark Tower series.

It's not even complicated I just cannae do it.

Currently reading murder house by James Patterson.

Only read one other book so far this year which was bad soldier by Chris Ryan.

I'm currently working my way through the Jack Reacher novels. I used to only read while on holiday as found it hard to switch off. Now I'm divorcing and living alone I goes days without tv and enjoy being totally engrossed in a book.

Used to love reading James Herbert as a teenager.

I've made a similar resolution for 2019! Not sure I'll reach 25, but...

Started with 'Number 11' by Jonathan Coe (which I'd started last year and not finished - my fault, not the book's!)

Aye, listened to a view. Other than the hilarious Alan Partridge books, I just zone out really. Cannae concentrate.

Let's all put our reviews after finishing each book. Great to see a record of what you've read this year too. I started with a Man Booker Prize winner so might look for more as that was very good

Away with the fairies (Liverpool to you)

I love books, I have a small collection ( a book shelf full ) . However I’ve never tried anything considered classical. Mainly into sci-fi and adventure fantasy. I have a few signed by authors and one or two first editions, I even have one or two from my childhood like the “ chrysalids “ .
