Coming up to 7 weeks and still not smoking. Just started using a great free app called MyFitnessPal, (recommended by a fab lady) last week, together with a veryfitpro wristband which tracks activity, sleep etc, lost 3lbs already! How are you doing you all doing with any changes you've made?

I always think giving up smoking you not only have the physical addition to break but also the ritual habit. I haven't smoked over 15years but still remember wanting to light up after food, sex, waiting for a bus etc.

You got over the 1st week, well done. I bet you seeing the changes now with your skin and hair

Nice one. Just over 6 months without a cig for me. Tried numerous times over the years but invested in a good ecig and it worked straight away. Save about £200 a month too.

Hiding in the shadows

Damn typos! Try again....

Well done on quitting & getting more active xx

I want to quit too.

I had an appointment at the smoking clinic last week but had to cancel as got called into work.

I've rescheduled for next week

I've set goals this year, after a few health issues (& Christmas) I've put on a bit of padding, so working on loosing that, 9lbs so far.

Also aim to increase my strength & muscle mass.

Cutting down on the caffeine I'm a total coffee junkie.

At least 16 mugs a day. I'm down to 10 a day this week... I've had serious twitches & even got called moody yesterday by my son!

And alcohol, I work part time in a bar, getting drinks bought me all the time, it's very easy after a shift to end up sitting down & having 3 or 4 drinks after a shift.

Stopping the booze, taking the tip instead of a pint.

Putting the money into a Christmas savings club the manager runs.

Well done OP, giving up smoking is one of the hardest things you can do so try and stick with it as the benefits are so worth it..

I gave up by sheer willpower 10 yrs ago and it was definitely worth it..

I usually do dry january to kick start my healthy regime but i haven't bothered this year, although i have cut down drastically

I have started on a 'lose a stone in 3 weeks' challenge (on Monday) by only having 800 calories a day and so far have lost 5lb

Wow! Great posts, I guess I really had to be in the right frame of mind to make the choices I have at the right times. I agree with the ritual part of smoking it's not the nicotene so much, but the time where I would smoke, eg with a glass of wine, after a meal etc. I have found that I'm hardly drinking any alcohol now as a result as well.
