Do you incorporate the peas into the actual pie, or do you have them as a side dish ?

I maintain a pea free household. Am I still eating a cottage pie? Or have I been eating something else entirely all these years?

Will you be able to get the peas when dover closes due to brexit, thats the real question.

WE DEMAND ANSWERS!

WHEN DO WE WANT THEM?

When I make cottage pie I make it with extra lean mince and then go into vegetable overload! Peas, carrots, onions, leeks and green beans!

I’ve always been a stickler for the ‘5 a day’ thing!

I like to chuck a tin of baked beans in, when I'm cooking the mince - plus, half an onion, an oxo, a pinch of chilli and/or turmeric. Sometimes a squidge of bbq sauce. (Never bland)

If I'm doing shepherds pie (lamb instead of beef), it will be mint and rosemary.

Veggies always on the side though.

It's not a cottage pie if you serve bens with it. It then becomes a Bean Pie, so I've been informed. An altogether seperate thing entirely. So you're correct.

Turns out I've never had a cottage pie in my life, peas prevent me from indulging.

Fucking homophobic peas

You fry them in a little oil along with the onion and mincemeat.

Soften the carrots and onion first, then brown the mince before adding the stock, herbs, peas and whatever else you use.

Cottage pie should only be eaten with or without peas when hungover or if you're elderly without teeth!

And regardless of teeth you should never put the peas in the pie

Peas, sweetcorn and broccoli should be on the side - then you should go for your old age nap

I never knew all these rules. At least I'm not an old toothless cottage pie eater.
