Guys a question about bruised egos.

Guys if you were meeting someone on a purely casual basis and then called time on it, would it annoy you or bruise the ego of that person you were meeting then went and met your boss (who you didn’t particularly like very much)?

Would I be upset if someone I didn't like got my leftovers?

Nope. I'm sure I would have had good reason for binning them.

Would it bruise my ego if someone that I choose to stop seeing goes and meets someone I know and dislike? Nope. Why would it? If I've made the decision that I no longer desire their company it is for a good reason.

Maybe a little but if it was only casual then really it wouldn't be my place to complain or judge who they shagged next

Ok think military hierarchy. I was meeting someone who decided he didn’t want to meet me anymore. I then went and met his boss who was second highest rank there so his big boss who I know he didn’t like.

Guy I was originally meeting recently requested meeting again and knew Id met someone from the camp and appeared fine with it and still wanted to meet, but when he knew who there was no other contact and been ignored. I’m not saying this is the reason, there could be many other reasons.

I’m just trying to find possibilities cos it’s done my head in.

Even on a casual basis, it still depends on how much feeling you have for that person. If it was just casual, but secretly liked her a lot then I would be broken, where on the other hand if it is a strictly casual and just the sex then I wouldn't care at all!

No, if I stopped seeing someone then who they see next is of no consequence, whether I like that new person or not.

As soon as you call time then your association is done.

Ah gotcha!

Well in theory they’ve been dumped so free to see who they want.

In practice the male ego is incredibly fragile and seeing an ex fraternising with a “superior” will probably dent it a bit.

I guess it depends if they’re meeting the boss because they genuinely like him or whether it’s simply some sort of mind-fuck thing just to piss off the ex.

The former is fine. The latter is some sort of disturbing bunny-boiler type behaviour!

Jeez, these guys that you meet certainly like to play games and mess you around.

It sounds a bit like he wanted you to be hanging on for him and when he found out you weren't he got his nose out of joint.

It all sounds rather complicated and dramatic.

Having been in the Army for many years, it's possible that there is more to this, it could be the rank thing, it could be 'banter' from his mates - woman are often enjoyed by soldiers then slated by them should they start seeing other soldiers (especially on the same camp). Thread carefully

Thing is the boss man I didn’t do anything sexual with. It was pure fatal attraction shit. Like in my head for some reason I can’t even explain I only met the new boss guy to have some sort of connection with the old guy. Boss guy got pissed off and twigged that I was using him to feel closer to old guy! But all that stopped in April last year.

Old guy contacted me last month to meet again and even said he had no ill feeling and that I had to do what o had to do. Could sense that once he knew who it was it wasn’t received well. Then I was ignored!

Yup, the male ego can be incredibly fragile and I know many men who would simply not be able to forgive that. If you knew he disliked the guy and went ahead and met him, then that could be interpreted as a real lack of loyalty too, a betrayal. If you revealed that before he stonewalled you after contacting you again then I would put money on it being the reason.

Perhaps it has nothing to do with his ego, rather he just came to the conclusion you have been playing games and he wanted out. Maybe explain to him your true motives.

So you blatantly used one guy to either get back at or get closer to someone else! Either way - the key fact is you deliberately used someone without any consideration for them or their feelings!

Isn't the whole point of casual or no strings relationship is that you can walk away or end it at any time no hard feelings or ill will.

Do you think you could be forming emotional attachments and not addressing them?

I did try and like the boss guy and was genuinely looking for a distraction to take my mind off old guy but there was no attraction on my part to boss guy.

I even stayed at the military base with boss guy and old guy came out of one of the buildings in the night whilst I was having a fag in my car. I thought he hadn’t noticed me but from when he meaaages recently he said he saw me sneaking around the camp, I thought he knew who I was there with but obviously didn’t until I said.

I would be exceptionally careful from now on, I’ve seen girls/women who have played this game torn to shreds and used as banter in the mess.

Once you get a reputation for being a block bike you will never get rid of it even if nothing happened with boss man banter is still rife as your name would be.

Much as they may not like each other if it came down to the crux they are a band of brothers who would stick together.

No you shouldn't off. It was a really stalkerish thing to do !

If someone doesn't want to see you again, you should respect their wishes and remove yourself from their life. Hanging around on the outskirts won't do any good for him or you. You have to learn to let people go gracefully and move on.

Well that’s what I thought anyway. I thought he got back in touch because he wanted to know if I would still meet and that he thinks I’m a guaranteed fuck but he doesn’t even want it, I actually said I would meet him again but he doesn’t even want it.

I’ve just made myself look like a dick and a weirdo and a bloody stalker and someone who isn’t very nice due to the using of the new guy.

What I should’ve done when the boss guy contacted me was say no thank you cos it’s too complicated. Which in my defence I did say I didn’t want to meet anyone from that area due to me not long having met someone from there but boss guy was persistent and was saying what’s the harm in having a dinner with someone and said he would take my mind off things and blah blah blah. That was my only intention at the time, to take my mind off things but then it escalated.

Like I’m constantly messagesd by squaddies from that area and I say no to them all now because of it.

With all these hot guys and your wasting energy wondering what this one individual is thinking!

I suspect he doesn't really know what he wants. Or he does know but next day changes his mind

I don’t like thinking there’s a person out there thinking badly of me. I know I could explain it all away. There’s no mallice inside me. I didn’t mean to hurt anybody or piss anyone off. I was upset myself.

But yeah, there were 100’s of other guys I could’ve met to distract myself. I deliberately chose that one because of the connection which is massively stupid on my part.

Then don’t play games in future with others because you feel rejected.

Lots of people on here previously have offered you advice and you have ignored it maybe next time listen to them

"Sounds to me like you need to stop playing games. Meeting his boss to be closer to him after he dumped you games often backfire

I’m out of it. Long out of it. I put a stop to the boss thing back in April.

Should never ever have met him. Should never have but how was I supposed to know months later old guy would get back in touch. I never thought he’d want to see me again. "

Always remember, the bridge you burn today may be the one you want to cross tomorrow.

It wouldnt bruise my ego, I would think the girl was a massive weirdo though.

Unless the girl also worked where I work, I would think she was such a creeper ending up with my boss.

I’ve learnt now though. I say no straight away to anyone from that area.

Fuck it anyway, nothing I can do about it. I’d apologise if I even knew he was bothered in the first place.

You made a deliberate choice to fuck someone over because they didn’t want to see you by meeting said mans boss.

That’s a pretty horrid thing to do in fairness and I can bet I know why the old fella got back in touch it doesn’t take a genius to work it out.

Your playing with fire

What is the reason he got back in touch?"

I hate to say it but maybe he did genuinely want to meet 'til you told him who you'd met? Or maybe he was just playing games too - that's easier to live with!

Yep and yep that’s exactly what I’ve made myself look like. A massive creepy weirdo. If this was a guy doing what I’d done then it would actually be worrying. I’m cringing so fucking hard.

Oh my god I can’t imagine working in an army barracks. That’s the stuff of fantasies, I’d be the medic that was struck off and dismissed for taking men’s temperatures by sticking my tongue up their arse when they only came to me for a headache.

Do it anyway, just to make yourself feel better. I hate to think of people thinking badly of me and would probably send a short text to say 'Sorry if annoyed you that I met x, I realise now it was a daft thing to do, but just to let you know there was no malice in it. x' ..........just to get closure for myself.

Then forget it!!

About a year ago I apologised for the way I'd dumped someone 40 years ago, lol, and I was so glad I did, and he thanked me! It's never to late just to set things straight.

I have. I said I didn’t do anything with the boss guy. I said it was a silly thing to do on my part.

Ita probably not even that he probably just changed his mind and was right to cos fuck if he met me now after all this I’d question his sanity over mine!

I reconnected with someone on here and we had breakfast together where I looked him in the eye and apologised for how things went 4 years prior. I felt so much happier I’d set things straight too x

I was in the armed services, I would actually understand if an ex ended up with another soldier. A lot of the time the girls like soliders and in the area its one of the few places for them to find men anyway.

But I work in IT now, so if it happened at my job, it would be 100% totally different.

Also, I think you might get away taking temperatures by tongue. lol

Cheeseville, Somerset

Golden rule. Don't stick your dick in crazy and don't let crazy stick its dick in you.

From reading the thread you're annoyed that someone who found out you'd met someone to get close to them decided you're too much drama - especially since the person you met is their boss. The boss got annoyed because you only met them to get close to someone you'd met previously who happens to be their 'employee' or in this case subordinate.

So you've pissed on two people's chips and don't see why there's a problem.

Soooooo much drama. Can you honestly not see why?

A
