Has anyone met someone of this site and arranged another meet with them but the day before or even an hour before the other person has been in touch and made a really crap for not being ablr to meet.Why not just say "had a nice meet with you but no thanks" rather than coming out with a really bad lie.

Unsure what you mean?

Some excuses are genuine, but a bit ‘out there’. The person could well be telling the truth

Its not happened to me but some i guess some people don't like to say 'no thanks, you're not for me' in person or online

Sometimes people have a hard time turning someone down. We're all brought up to be polite and use excuses. It's usual to give an excuse for declining an invitation for example rather than just say no thank you.

I suppose being given a poor excuse is better than just not turning up

Very true, but shit happens.

I was to meet an old friend I'd not seen for years (not a fab meet) she cancelled last minute as her grandmother had taken seriously ill and was in hospital.

I ended up taking her to the hospital. Definitely was not just an excuse.

Yeah people throw excuses around but you never really know if it's true unless you catch them out.

Understandable to be distrustful since lots make it easy to be.

Hi Jeff, well i think people are just nice a polite, when you meet someone just to chat and have a drink. It's not necessary mean that this will lead somewhere as there might not be any "spark". I think that generally people are nice and care about the other human being feelings, meeting someone is more likely to give one a hope, and then it's no easy just to say "had a nice time but no thank you" so came up with excuse or a lie is much saver option for everyone as there is no guilt but the message send across is the same. Please don't take it personally, if people don't want to meet again it's their conscious decision and everyone needs to respect that that's nature of swinging.

Most egos can't take an honest "Your pics are very flattering compared to how you look in person", "I don't want to take the chance that your conversational skills are a reflection of your bedrooms skills" or "It took me a while to realise the shitty odour I could smell was your breath", so a lame excuse is probably the best option.
