A comment on another thread got me thinking. Sometimes, cover versions ARE better than the original. How many can we come up with?

My starter for ten:

All along the watchtower - Hendrix is far better than Dylan.

All to do with the type of music I listen to:

Gun Word up is better than Cameo

Disturbed Land of Confusion is better than Genisis

But, Disturbed Sound of Silence is no where near as good as Simon & Garfunkel dispite what everyone else thinks! (And I’m a Disturbed fan with tickets for the up coming tour)

Quite a few songs from the 40s and 50s count as they were covered by a shit ton of artists.

Peggy Lee's Fever.

Ray Charles' version of Shake a Tail Feather from Blues Brothers is brilliant.

Nothing Compares 2 U, Sinead O'Connor.

"Hydrogyn's version of 18 and life wipes the Skid Row original "

Sorry but no way, its exactly the same but sung by a lady who sounds slightly country and western, there's absolutely no attempt to distinguish it from the original other than having a different singer and she doesnt beat Seb for the passion in it.

Otis Redding’s version of Satisfaction is much better than the Stones version and I’m a huge Stones fan.

I also think Adel’s version of Make You Feel My Love is better than Bob Dylan’s version but then again Bob does have a voice that only a mother could love!
